In the age of Facebook, finding out which of your high school friends got fat, rich, and/or married is a simple matter of entering their name into a search bar. But an entire movie centered around people “liking” baby photos or approving friend requests isn’t likely to be very exciting, so in 10 Years a group of old friends decides to actually converge in the flesh for their high school reunion.

The film’s bound to draw some attention for its cast alone: Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Lynn Collins, Rosario Dawson, Kate Mara, Chris Pratt, Ari Graynor, Justin Long, Anthony Mackie, Ron Livingston, Aubrey Plaza, Oscar Isaac, Scott Porter, and Brian Geraghty all star. Watch the first trailer after the jump, and make sure you stick around for the adorably awkward old photos at the end.

Offerings for raunchy but smart comedy have been thin this year, and just as Adam Sandler’s That’s My Boy hits theaters, it’s a good time to throw out the Sundance phone sex comedy For A Good Time, Call… as a possible option for anyone who wants some dirty laughs.

The film stars Lauren Anne Miller (who co-wrote) as a straightlaced yougn woman who settles into an amazing NYC apartment with a much more free-spirited girl played by Ari Graynor. Turns out that Graynor is running a phone sex line, because she scores a dollar per minute for taking girlishly while guys breathe heavy into the other end of the line.

Soon enough Miller is joining in, and the comedy writes itself from there. The new red-band trailer for Jamie Travis‘ film proves that there’s no shortage of raunch here; whether there’s anything more than that is open to question. Check it out below, and wait for the guest appearance at the end of the trailer. Read More »

If the new slimmed down, Serious Actor version of Jonah Hill confounds you, don’t fret — The Sitter sees Hill returning to the familiar role of pudgy funnyman as Noah Jaybird, a layabout who gets roped into babysitting a trio of bratty kids. Described as cross between Adventures in Babysitting and SuperbadDavid Gordon Green‘s comedy follows Noah and his charges as they embark on a wild night, crossing paths with a pair of psychotic dealers (Sam Rockwell and J.B. Smoove), a horny young lady (Ari Graynor), and various other unsavory characters. Needless to say, the evening does not go well, especially for poor Noah.

A new red-band TV spot shows Noah getting smashed up in all sorts of ways by various people, while an international poster demonstrates the film’s racier side. Check out both after the jump. (Warning: The former is NSFW for language; the latter is technically SFW, but is probably the kind of thing your boss wouldn’t be thrilled to see on your computer screen at work.)

A few days ago, we posted a red-band trailer for David Gordon Green‘s The Sitter, and several of you complained about the very NSFW audio that opens the trailer. I’m not sure why so many of you are watching movie trailers with the volume turned all the way up in your offices and classrooms — do your bosses really not care if you watch trailers all day as long as they’re SFW? If so, lucky you — but rest assured that you can crank this new green-band version up at top volume without risking the wrath of your superiors and colleagues.

Starring Jonah Hill, the “Adventures in Babysitting meets Superbad” comedy follows a lazy young man who gets roped into babysitting for a family friend. Naturally, one thing leads to another, and our feckless hero and his young charges find themselves on a wild ride that includes psychotic drug dealers (Sam Rockwell and J.B. Smoove), a sexy and willing young woman (Ari Graynor), at least one crazy car chase, and some punches in the face. Watch the trailer after the jump.

Looks like Colin Hanks and Dexter may have a few things to talk about when the actor joins the hit series this season. A new trailer has been released for Gil Cates, Jr.‘s indie comedy Lucky, which stars Hanks as a seemingly ordinary guy who’s secretly a serial killer. When he wins the lottery, he finds all of his dreams coming true — he even snags the girl of his dreams. Unfortunately, his win also draws the attention of a detective (Jeffrey Tambor) who’s trying to solve a string of murders. Ari Graynor and Ann-Margret also star. Watch the trailer after he jump.

We reported on the last round of casting for Celeste and Jesse Forever just the other day, when Emma Roberts, Ari Graynor and Chris Messina joined the cast of the film that follows Rashida Jones (who co-wrote) and Andy Samberg as a couple who tries to maintain their friendship while still living in the same house during their divorce. Now Elijah Wood has signed on as well; THR says he’ll be “Celeste’s business partner, a metrosexual who tries to be her ‘saucy gay friend.’” I’m not sure if that means the character is gay, or if he’s a straight guy who tries to play that role with Celeste (Rashida Jones).  Either way, I’ll be happy to see Elijah Wood do outright comedy, since we don’t often see him in that mode on the big screen.

After the break, Colin Hanks continues his hot streak and Paul Schneider breaks his lizard. Read More »
