I have to say, I really don’t care about a Barbarella. I never liked the 1968 Jane Fonda film, or the French comicbook series that it spawned from. But now it’s just been announced that Robert Rodriguez will direct the remake. But why? A few weeks back it was rumored that the Sin City director was considering a live-action Jetsons film or big screen Land of the Lost. Both of those ideas sound considerably better (to me, at least). But now that Rodriguez is involved in Barbarella, I must try to become interested.
“In our vision, the future is female, and I can’t wait to introduce ‘Barbarella’ to a new generation of moviegoers,” Producer Dino De Laurentiis told Variety.
Casino Royale screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are penning the remake. So we have some talented people behind the scenes. And who will play Barbarella? Kate Beckinsale was previously rumored to be in line (although, we hope they can find someone ANYONE better). Universal will release the film in 2008.Cool Posts From Around the Web:
