Well, it’s not quite Batman casting news, but here’s a new ‘walk and talk’ photo from Green Lantern.Hardly the most exciting image in the world, but I’m running it because it serves as a reminder that Peter Sarsgaard is on hand playing Hector Hammond, one of the villains of the piece. And that could be a very good thing. His smarmy work in An Education was one of my favorite performances in 2009, and I’m imagining that energy channeled into a guy who is a comic book scientist, and a bad guy to boot. Could be a lot of fun watching him go over the top, especially once he’s under prosthetics.

There’s speculation that we see Tim Robbins there in the background — he’s Hector Hammond’s father in the film — but I’m not positive. Green Lantern also stars Blake Lively, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, Temuera Morrison, Jay O. Sanders, Taika Waititi and Jon Tenney. Martin Campbell directed the film, which opens in 3D and 2D theaters on June 17.  Click the image to enlarge. [CinemaTeaser via ComingSoon]
