How much do you know about the creation and performance that gave life to one of the nastiest aliens in the Star Wars universe? Dive deep into the guts of slimy intergalactic gangster Jabba the Hutt in a new short documentary from the guy who made some of the most detailed making-of films we’ve ever seen, for movies like Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Jaws. Jamie Benning has put together Slimy Piece of Worm-Ridden Filth: Life Inside Jabba the Hutt, using incredible vintage footage showing the inner workings of the Jabba puppet, and a new interview with puppeteer Toby Philpott.
This doc tells you more than you ever thought you wanted to know about the workings of the giant alien slug Jabba the Hutt puppet, and goes into great detail about the staging of every major scene in Return of the Jedi, and the team of people required to bring the character to life.
While much of the footage here will be familiar to those who have really gone through every bit of behind the scenes footage available from Return of the Jedi, the core interview is new. So there should be fresh material here for just about everyone. And if you’ve never seen that behind the scenes footage you’re in for a treat, as it reveals just how cramped and difficult the performing environment for Jabba really was.Cool Posts From Around the Web:
