Casting Notes: Anthony Mackie in ‘Man on a Ledge’; Bob Hoskins and Willem Dafoe in ‘Transmission’; ‘Three More for ‘Shark Night 3D’

Anthony Mackie is in talks to join Man on a Ledge, the cop thriller that already has Sam Worthington on board. The story kicks off with “a female psychologist and a former NYPD officer who threatens to jump to his death,” which sounds pretty eh. But the potential suicide is a smokescreen to obscure a massive diamond heist. Wait, did you say ‘heist,’ and Anthony Mackie? OK, officially more interested.

After the break, a great cast for a questionable sci-fi picture, and more potential shark victims go in the water.
Tell me that Bob Hoskins and Willem Dafoe may be in an alien invasion movie together, and I get excited. Tell me that Battlefield Earth director Roger Christian is in talks to direct, and, well…
Nonetheless, a 3D film called Transmission already has Hoskins, Jason Flemyng and Talulah Riley set to appear, with Dafoe in talks. We don’t know much about the plot at this point, but the British production reportedly has to do with aliens attacking during a solar eclipse. And in 3D. Did I mention that the Battlefield Earth director is likely to helm? [Moviehole]
Finally, Shark Night 3D has three more potential victims. Sara Paxton (The Last House on the Left), Dustin Milligan (The Messengers) and Katharine McPhee (The House Bunny) have all signed on to the film, which “revolves around seven people who spend a weekend at a lake house in Louisiana. When their vacation quickly becomes a nightmare of hellish shark attacks, unheard of in freshwater lakes, they soon discover that the sharks are part of a sick, greedy plan on the part of several locals.”
Those damn greedy locals. Always setting up tourists to be the chum in unlikely freshwater shark attacks. David R. Ellis directs from a Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes script. [Variety]Cool Posts From Around the Web:
