'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' Antagonist Poses On Empire Cover

The trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier showed off brief flashes of the second character in the film's title, and we've seen some concept art (such as the image above) that gave us a good idea of how the film had brought the character to the screen. (In a word: faithfully.) Now there's a new image that gives a better look at the character, who might turn out to be one of the more entertaining screen villains of 2014.

The latest issue of Empire has two different Captain America: The Winter Soldier covers, and one of them features the film's three main characters. While the Soldier looks a bit like he's cosplaying as Pris from Blade Runner, if the film holds true to the comic story penned by Ed Brubaker, he'll be more than just a "villain of the year" sort of guy.

Empire Cap 2 coverCaptain America: The Winter Soldier stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, Robert Redford and Samuel L. Jackson. It opens April 4, 2014.

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.
