Wall-E And Doctor Who Lego Sets Coming Later This Year

Wednesday, Lego announced the two latest sets to be created under the "Ideas" banner. These are sets that are imagined by fans, voted on by fans, and then judged by a group of Lego employees. Every year, a few new sets are picked that get turned into actual Lego Ideas sets. Previous examples are the Back to the Future Delorean and Ghostbusters Ecto-1. Well the two newest ones are both based in pop culture, and both are incredibly awesome.

Wall-E and Doctor Who are getting their own official Lego sets later this year. See photos and video of the Wall-E Lego and Doctor Who Lego below.

Here's the video announcing the two new Lego Ideas sets. Each of these sets were originally built by fans and received 10,000 votes, then were carefully considered by Lego.

You can read more about the whole process at this link. Here are photos of the Wall-E Lego and Doctor Who Lego sets.

(Of note – these are just images from the original Ideas pitches. The final products always look a little different.)

First up, Wall-E:

What's super cool about the Wall-E Lego is he was designed by Angus MacLane, a Pixar animator and director, who worked on Wall-E the film. We talked about his design back in 2013, which gives you an idea of how long this process can take.

Next up, Doctor Who:

More information on these sets will be out later this year. On the down side, while these two were picked, sets that were not picked include Star Wars Lightsabers, the X-Men Mansion, a huge AT-AT, the Ghostbusters HQ and more. Read about that here.
