Big Buck Bunny is a computer animated short film created by the Blender Institute using free software. I’ve been wanting to post this for a while now, but for some reason or another it has never made the site. The film tells the story of “a giant rabbit with a heart bigger than himself. When one sunny day three rodents rudely harass him, something snaps… and the rabbit ain’t no bunny anymore! In the typical cartoon tradition he prepares the nasty rodents a comical revenge.” Watch the short embedded after the jump.
Big Buck Bunny was funded by the Blender Foundation, donations from the Blender community, pre-sales of the film’s DVD and commercial sponsorship. Both the final product and production data, including animation data, characters and textures have been released under the Creative Commons Attribution License.
