Alexander Payne‘s Election is one of my favorite movies of all time. I’ve seen it too many times to count, but even I never noticed this awesome easter egg that Payne had his property department create for the film.
During a sequence near the end of the movie, a newspaper flashes on screen with the headline “Carver Student Plans Lawsuit”. Reddit user arwrawwar paused the film there, and noticed a paragraph of text in the middle of the article which reads:
“If you’ve paused the film in order to read this entire article, your time would be better spent renting Citizen Ruth from your local video store, which was another Payne film. Do you know how hard it is to write these fake few stories for newspaper movie props? I’ve got better things to do.”
Here is a screen grab:
How funny is that?
