VOTD: The Simpsons Game of Life Couch Gag

The Simpsons Game of Life Couch Gag

The couch gag opening for the May 11th 2014 episode of The Simpsons (titled “Pay Pal”) is an amazing tribute to the classic board game, The Game of Life. The opening sequence features peg versions of The Simpsons, riding along in a plastic board game component car around the board of The Game of Life. And of course, all things end with the couch. Anyone who grew up playing this game will surely get a kick out of this opening parody of the roll (or is it spin?) and move board game. Watch The Simpsons Game of Life couch gag embedded after the jump, along with a Polish animator’s take on the couch gag (the aired a few weeks ago and we’re just now getting around to sharing);

The Simpsons Polish Animated Couch Gag

“Take a journey into Homer’s brain and push the boundaries of animation” in this Simpsons couch gag directed by Polish animator Michal Socha for the 19th episode of season 25 titled ”What To Expect When Bart’s Expecting”, which aired on April 27th 2014.

The Simpsons airs on Fox every Sunday at 8/7c, or at least for the last 25 years of my life.
