'The Brothers Grimsby' Red-Band Trailer: Sacha Baron Cohen Is At It Again

2015 has been a huge year for movie spies, between Kingsman: The Secret Service, Spy, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and now Spectre. But here's hoping you aren't tired of them yet, because there's still more to come next year.

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for The Brothers Grimsby, which stars Sacha Baron Cohen as an obnoxious soccer hooligan brother who must go on the run with his estranged brother, an elite black-ops agent (played by Mark Strong). Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me) directed. Watch the Brothers Grimsby red-band trailer after the jump.

IGN premiered the Brothers Grimsby red-band trailer. Really, it's more like a teaser. But like a meaty teaser, not one of those bullshit title treatment teasers.

The Brothers Grimsby was originally set to open this summer, but earlier this year Sony pushed it to 2016. (Paramount's Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation snapped up that July 31 slot after The Brothers Grimsby dropped out.) In retrospect, that may have been wise. The Brothers Grimsby just feels a bit too familiar at this point. Strong actually starred in one of this year's other Bond spoofs, Kingsman, and his role here looks a lot like the one occupied by that other bald British badass, Jason Statham, in Spy.

The opening of the trailer is pretty intriguing, taking on an almost video game-like feel as we watch Strong's work through his eyes. Then we cut to what looks like an entirely different movie: Cohen playing a typically Cohen-esque character, which is to say rude and oblivious and unruly. It's another variation on the same character he's been playing since his Ali G and Borat days, but apparently it works for him. There's not enough of him to say how well his crass comedy meshes with Strong's slick action heroism, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

The Brothers Grimsby arrives March 4, 2016.
