2014’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the Turtles’ first live-action theatrical feature in 21 years, but the guys haven’t waited quite so long to issue a follow-up. Arriving next summer is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, which brings back the beloved heroes in a half-shell — Leonardo (Pete Ploszek and Johnny Knoxville), Raphael (Alan Ritchson), Michelangelo (Noel Fisher), and Donatello (Jeremy Howard) — as well as their allies April O’Neil (Megan Fox) and Vernon Fenwick (Will Arnett).
The gang will also be joined by new friends like Casey Jones (Stephen Amell) and Rebecca Vincent (Laura Linney), and face new foes including Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry), Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams), and Rocksteady (Stephen Farrelly, a.k.a. Sheamus). Dave Green (Earth to Echo) replaces Jonathan Liebesman in the director’s chair. Watch the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 trailer after the jump.
Paramount premiered the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows trailer today.
As cool as it is to see all the new characters, it’s really fun to see the new turtle truck in action. Like many Millennials and Gen Xers, I grew up with one of those toy turtle vans, and spent many an hour daydreaming about what it’d be like to have one of my own. That fantasy has yet to be realized, and at this rate probably never will be, so seeing how Green and his team have updated it for 2015 might be the next best thing.
To go along with the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 trailer, Paramount dropped two new stills:
And two new posters featuring Bebop and Rocksteady. I love that they retained Bebop’s purple mohawk and shades. They look doofy, but they work perfectly for this particular character in this particular universe.
