Talk is heating up about the possibility that Wonder Woman will show up in Zack Snyder‘s Batman vs. Superman. Rumors say that Jaimie Alexander was testing for a role in the film, even though her contract with Marvel makes any major role unlikely, and the particulars of her comments led to the idea that she was talking about Wonder Woman.

Now we know that three other actresses — Gal Gadot (Fast 6), Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation), and Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) — are testing or have tested for the lead female role in the film. Is that going to be a romantic interest for Bruce Wayne, or is the “tall, brunette, athletic and exotic” character going to be Wonder Woman? Read More »

The Summer of 2015 is going to be one of the biggest ever for film releases and this past weekend, the first of its mega-blockbusters started filming. Director Zack Snyder was on hand at East Los Angeles College on October 19 to film scenes from Batman vs. Superman, the sequel to Man of Steel that will star Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. Neither star was on hand but several extras got to watch a few takes of Gotham City University playing Metropolis State University on the GCU gridiron. You can check out some footage of that below and hear an assistant director call the film Batman vs. Superman. Read More »

Normally this would be a Superhero Bits kinda thing, but since Germain is in London that column is on pause.

That said: with these, the flow of minor details from Zack Snyder‘s sequel to Man of Steel officially begins. These are the jerseys for football teams from Gotham City University and rival Metropolis State University, to be used in the shoot this weekend when East Los Angeles College is turned into Gotham’s local institute of higher learning during halftime of a game tomorrow. Hans Zimmer crafted strange and memorable scores for all three of Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies, and when the director did producing duties on Man of Steel, the composer was brought on to the new Superman movie as well. The result was great; Zimmer’s score for Man of Steel was instrumental in crafting an identity for the film.

So it’s natural for fans to expect, or at least hope, that Zimmer would return to work with Zack Snyder for Batman Vs Superman, or whatever the Man of Steel sequel will be called. And it would be a strange project, as the film will feature a new Batman, with Ben Affleck playing the role. So if Zimmer did the film would he go back to the Batman themes he created for Nolan’s movie, or treat this as an all-new deal?

Turns out that might not be a question he has to answer. Zimmer says that Snyder hasn’t talked to him about the film, and the composer doesn’t sound much like he wants to do the film, anyway. Read More »

DC Comics is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Man of Steel, and the summer release of the film called Man of Steel is just part of the big plan.

A while back we told you that director Zack Snyder was working with Bruce Timm on a two-minute animated short that would cover the comic and motion picture history of Superman, and now that short is online. It runs through the big moments in the character’s history, more in the sense of how he’s depicted in media than on a personal level.

Which is to say, this doesn’t start with Krypton; it starts with Action Comics #1, and works its way through all the major projects that have brought Superman to life, right up to and through this summer’s film. Read More »

A few weeks back, a European casting call said Zack Snyder would begin filming Batman vs. Superman overseas this weekend. We contacted Warner Bros. to confirm or deny this, but never heard back. Either way, filming on the highly anticipated film is definitely happening this weekend. But it’s happening in the U.S.

The East Los Angeles College Campus News is reporting production of the 2015 superhero film starring Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck will take place October 19 at halftime of a college football game between ELAC and Victor Valley College. The stadium will be transformed to Gotham City University for a game between GCU and Metropolis State University. Read More »

When Zack Snyder shot Man of Steel, he did so about two years before its release date. Despite early reports, it looks like he’s following a similar schedule for the sequel, Batman vs. Superman. The release date for the film is July 17, 2015 and a recent article stated filming would begin in early 2014. However, the film’s screenwriter, David Goyer, recently teased that the movie is a bit “a further a long than what I think people realize.” So how soon could Batman and Superman do battle on camera? A European casting call says three weeks from now, October 18.
