Production on Justice League is finished in the United Kingdom, but the film is still shooting overseas, this time in Iceland. Since director Zack Snyder is shooting on location in the country for scenes that will take place in Amnesty Bay, the hometown of Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Warner Bros. Pictures must have assumed that paparazzi would be shooting photos of the various actors on set for these scenes, so they decided to beat them to the punch.
A new Justice League photo has just been unveiled, revealing Amber Heard as Mera, the Queen of Atlantis and wife of Aquaman. She has some kind of role in the DC superhero ensemble, though we’re not sure how big it will be. See the first Justice League Mera photo after the jump. Read More »
When our own Peter Sciretta visited the set of Justice League a months ago, director Zack Snyder and his team had an obvious mission: they were dead-set on getting the people who didn’t care for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to get excited for the latest superhero team-up. Between that set visit and the footage screened at Comic-Con, we were seeing glimpses of a less serious-minded, more fun comic book movie, one with things like banter between characters and the occasional smile. So while I remain skeptical, I’m certainly willing to give the DC Extended Universe another shot. I like the DC comic book world too much to become completely disinterested! And despite not caring for Batman v Superman, I still enjoy most of Zack Snyder’s movies and think that he may have a terrific Justice League movie lurking inside of him.
So, does a new sizzle reel of behind-the-scenes footage from the film alter my thoughts at all? Will it alter yours? Let’s answer that question right now!

A few weeks ago, Ben Affleck posted a brief video revealing that Deathstroke would be making his way to the DC Extended Universe. Shortly afterward, Geoff Johns confirmed that Joe Manganiello had been cast in the role for Affleck’s Batman solo movie, which is expected out around 2018 or 2019. But it looks like we might get to meet the villain a little bit earlier than that.
Director Zack Snyder has posted a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of next year’s Justice League, which doesn’t look like much of anything at first glance but upon closer examination seems to suggest Deathstroke will appear in that movie. Read More »
Today is Batman Day. What does that mean? Well, basically it’s an artificial holiday created by DC Comics to celebrate The Dark Knight. This particular date isn’t the anniversary of the debut of Batman in Detective Comics (which happened in May of 1939), and the previous two Batman Day celebrations happened on July 23rd during San Diego Comic-Con in 2014 (for Batman’s 75th anniversary) and September 26 in 2015. This year, DC decided to celebrate on September 17, so here we are.
There have been a bunch of Batman related articles, sweepstakes and sales all over the internet, but the best contribution to Batman Day came from Zack Snyder in the form of the first official look at J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon in Justice League. Check out the photo after the jump. Read More »

I’ve spent far too many words explaining why I’m not a fan of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but one thing the film completely nailed was Batman’s look. The costume worn by Ben Affleck is the best costume worn by any Batman actor yet, stepping away from the rubber of the Tim Burton years and the bulky armor of Christopher Nolan’s movies and delivering something streamlined, intimidating and instantly recognizable. It also helps that Affleck brought the perfect mixture of charm and rage behind the cowl. Remove the parts where he executes a couple of dozen people, and you have yourself a damn fine Batman.
While we can safely assume that Batman will wear his regular tights in the upcoming Justice League, a new photo from the set has revealed an alternate outfit dubbed the “Tactical Batsuit.” Because it wouldn’t be a superhero sequel without everyone getting a new costume!

Suicide Squad is the first movie in the DC extended universe to not be directed by Zack Snyder, calling upon the services of End of Watch and Fury director David Ayer. But as one of the overseers of this burgeoning cinematic world, Snyder is credited as an executive producer on the film, allowing him to keep an eye on the state of things even when he’s not personally behind the camera.
Except that he was behind the camera for Suicide Squad. Well, he was behind the camera for a single scene, directing a quick sequence involving Jai Courtney‘s Captain Boomerang and slightly more recognizable character from the DC comic book landscape.

Before Zack Snyder polarized superhero movie fans with Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, he polarized superhero movie fans with Watchmen. Since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice just recently unveiled the Ultimate Edition on Blu-Ray and DVD, the DC Comics movie has been talked about all over again. While the Ultimate Edition has been said to improve upon the theatrical cut of the film, it still undoubtedly has its problems, and a new video essay attempts to explain what the fundamental flaw is in Zack Snyder‘s comic book sequel, and it makes quite a valid point.
