Like any massive machine that has been in operation for decades, the James Bond franchise is sometimes slow to get rolling. But once it picks up speed, nothing can halt its progress. Following yesterday’s news that the 25th 007 adventure will hit theaters on November 8, 2019, and the rumors that Daniel Craig is very close to officially signing on to return, we know who the Bond producers are eyeing for the director’s chair.

Jack O'Connell as Private Gary Hook in Yann Demange's thriller '71.

Next week’s Unbroken is Jack O’Connell‘s highest-profile gig yet, but he was doing fine work long before Angelina Jolie came along. Starred Up and ’71 are two of the roles that marked him as the Next Big Thing. The former opened a while ago, but the latter isn’t coming out for another few months.

Directed by Yann Demange’71 stars O’Connell as Hook, a young British soldier patrolling Belfast at the height of the Troubles. When a riot breaks out, he’s accidentally abandoned by his unit. He struggles to make his way home through unfriendly streets, as various friends and foes try to track him down. Watch the ’71 trailer after the jump.

The name Jack O’Connell may not mean anything to you now, but the way things are going it will very soon. The young English actor is poised to blow up with a lead role in Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken, and has already wowed critics with the prison drama Starred Up.

Today we have a trailer for another of his acclaimed recent performances, in the historical drama ’71. O’Connell plays a British soldier patrolling Belfast during the height of the Troubles.
