Dexter / Under the Dome

Pop culture aficionados generally associate the summer season with big cinematic blockbusters, but this year there’ll be tons of exciting offerings on the small screen as well. CBS’ Steven Spielberg-produced Stephen King adaptation Under the Dome hits in late June, with the eighth and last season of Dexter kicking off on Showtime just a few days later. Under The Dome

There’s a good chance that Under the Dome is show everyone will be talking about this summer. CBS is adapting the Stephen King best-seller about a small town that’s suddenly isolated by a huge, invisible dome into a 13 part mini-series. Broadcast begins June 24, and the network has just released the first actual look at the show. Nestled among the many blockbuster movie ads last night was the first teaser for Under the Dome, CBS’ upcoming supernatural drama based on Stephen King‘s novel and produced by Steven Spielberg‘s Amblin Entertainment. CBS clearly has incredibly high hopes for the series, having given it a straight-to-series 13-episode order and bypassing the pilot process altogether.

Whether those expectations will be met remains unclear, as the first teaser didn’t actually show off any footage at all. But it looks pretty cool, which is enough for now. Watch it after the jump.
