Michael Bay‘s fourth Transformers movie opens in just a couple weeks, and Paramount has yet to really show the film publicly, or even in critic screenings. In the first trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction, we met Mark Wahlberg and his family, and watched as he revived the wreck of Optimus Prime. In this one, Prime speaks up , and starts to explain the plot. He tells us enough to get the trailer moving with big explosions and craziness, and eventually gets around to insisting that he needs a new army, just before we see him ride into a city astride the Dinobot Grimlock. Transformers 4 photos bumblebee

Three new Transformers 4 photos have been released and they finally let us zoom in on the Autobots. In Transformers: Age of Extinction, the transformers are in hiding after the public perception of them turns. This will surely change, though, once the Decepticons start to unravel a dastardly plot and the robots in disguise are needed to save the world.

In previous photos from the Michael Bay film, we’ve seen leader Optimus Prime with his brand new sword, but apparently his loyal soldier Bumblebee has a new gun too as well as some Chinese stars. Both are cool winks to classic toys that made the Transformers so popular in the first place.

Transformers Age of Extinction plot

Here’s hoping you like the next Transformers movie, because there’s going to be a lot more where that came from. Michael Bay reiterated in a recent interview that Transformers: Age of Extinction is intended as the beginning of a new trilogy, though he wouldn’t confirm whether or not he plans to direct the other installments.

To help fans navigate this new Transformers trilogy, Bay also spilled some details on some of the fresh faces we’ll be seeing in the film, and shared a new photo of Dinobot Grimlock. Hit the jump for a new photo and lots of new details.

Michael Bay‘s Transformers: Age of Extinction is the first feature length film shot with full screen, IMAX 3D cameras. It’s one of two features being released in full IMAX this year (the other being Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar) and to promote that fact, Paramount has just released a Transformers 4 IMAX poster.

Transformers: Age of Extinction Trailer

Here’s the first full Transformers: Age of Extinction trailer, which comes directly from director Michael Bay. This follows on the release of the long Super Bowl spot, and uses some of the same footage but offers a few more clues about what’s up with the story.

Posters for the film proclaim that “the rules have changed,” and that big gun in Wahlberg’s hands certainly suggests one difference between this sequel and the films that went before it.
