This isn’t a gag: Pierce Brosnan and his son Sean Brosnan are teaming up to co-star in a film called Bonded, which will see them in an “Oliver Twist-esque” thriller based on a story that took place in California in the early ’90s.

Mo Ramchandani directs and wrote the script about “a Mexican teenager called Jesus who, after the death of his mother, is sold by his father and smuggled into America, where he’s forced to work as a bonded slave labourer in a Los Angeles sweatshop.” There he befriends a young woman who is soon sold into sexual slavery, leading Jesus to attempt to rescue her. Both Brosnans will play cops. [The Wrap]

After the break, new roles for Toby Kebbell, Lukas Haas and Walton Goggins. Read More »

All this week, Walt Disney Pictures has been revealing new character posters for the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced, Jon Turteltaub-directed The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Walt Disney Pictures has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette titled “Good vs. Evil” for the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced, Jon Turteltaub-directed The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

In “Good vs. Evil,” we’re introduced to Dave [Jay Baruchel], Balthazar Blake’s [Nicolas Cage] apprentice, as he begins to master the art of sorcery through his teacher. We also discover the centuries old rivalry between Balthazar and his nemesis, Maxim Horvath [Alfred Molina].

We also have five new production photos from the film. See the photos and watch the video, embedded after the jump.

In August of last year, we heard that Robert Redford was going to, in some measure, beat Steven Spielberg to the punch with a film about Lincoln. But Redford’s film, The Conspirator, isn’t quite about Lincoln himself — it is about Mary Surratt (Robin Wright), one of the accused members of a conspiracy to assassinate the President and, in the wake of the case, the first woman executed by the US government.

The film was shot last fall in Savannah, GA, and Redford is now talking about the picture, giving us some more information, and a few photos. Read More »

Walt Disney Pictures has released a new international movie trailer for Jon Turteltaub‘s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The trailer is basically a variation on the trailer released late last year in the states, but includes a bit more dialogue, action and a better look at Alfred Molina as the film’s villain Maxim. Shockingly, I’ve been hearing nothing but good things about this film from my insiders who are in the know.

So if you’re done watching that awesome Scott Pilgrim trailer again (really, we know you’re excited but it’s quickly becoming a problem), head on after the jump. As always, please leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Bill Murray Replaces Toby Kebbell in Passion Play

Toby Kebbell is one of the most fun young character actors working today. I’m always thrilled to see him added to a cast, even when the film in question has the unlikely logline “An angel under the thumb of a ruthless gangster is saved by a trumpet player down on his luck.” In this case, the film was Passion Play, being directed right now by The Recruit screenwriter Mitch Glazer.

But Kebbell has dropped out of the cast, and in a rare stroke of luck (for us) has been replaced by Bill Murray. So now Murray will be Happy Shannon, the mobster that has the number of a hapless angel (Megan Fox) who is rescued by a trumpet player (Mickey Rourke). Yeah, read that again. Fox as an angel (seriously?) and Rourke as an addition to the pantheon of unlikely cinematic trumpeters, where he’ll be in good company with guys like Val Kilmer.

Glazer, incidentally, was also the writer of Murray’s new holiday classic Scrooged.

It didn’t take long at all for Robert Redford‘s The Conspirator to get off the ground. The film, which hinges on the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, was announced only months ago and is already shooting in Savannah, GA. We knew some of the cast prior to the shoot’s start, but now we’ve got a host of good names to throw your way, in addition to some pics and video. Read More »

Toby Kebbell Joins The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

Toby Kebbell The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Toby Kebbell (Rocknrolla) has joined the cast of Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice as Drake Stone, a celebrity illusionist, not unlike Chriss Angel,  who joins forces with an evil sorcerer named Horvath (Alfred Molina), to “gain ultimate powers.” Kebbell just got done shooting the video game adaptation Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which was also produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and featured Molina.
