Dinner for Schmucks Runs From Inception

As July approaches, it seems that all of the studios in Hollywood are becoming more scared of Christopher Nolan‘s Inception. To be honest, I don’t think anyone knows how much money Nolan’s sci-fi action film will make. It’s heady like Memento, packs some crazy imagery/special effects, but packs a PG-13 rating (not that the PG-13 rating stopped The Dark Knight, but Inception isn’t a sequel and doesn’t feature Batman).

A couple weeks back, Disney announced they would be moving The Sorcerer’s Apprentice up to Wednesday, July 14th, giving it a couple days before the Chris Nolan mindfuck hits multiplexes. And now Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks have announced they are moving back the release of Dinner for Schmucks by one week, from July 23rd to July 30th. Variety even cites studio sources as claiming that “the July 30 frame is a less competitive date for adult films and gives “Dinner” more distance from “Inception” (July 16) and “Salt” (July 23).”

Movie Trailer #2: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

Nicolas Cage in THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE

Walt Disney Pictures has released a new two and a hald minute movie trailer for the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced, Jon Turteltaub-directed The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.  The new trailer shows a bit more interaction between Jay Baruchel and Teresa Palmer, and showcases a bunch of new special effects shots. I’ve been hearing a bunch of good things about this movie, and I expect it will surprise us. Watch the trailer now after the jump.

Nicolas Cage in THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE

Walt Disney Pictures has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette titled “Good vs. Evil” for the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced, Jon Turteltaub-directed The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

In “Good vs. Evil,” we’re introduced to Dave [Jay Baruchel], Balthazar Blake’s [Nicolas Cage] apprentice, as he begins to master the art of sorcery through his teacher. We also discover the centuries old rivalry between Balthazar and his nemesis, Maxim Horvath [Alfred Molina].

We also have five new production photos from the film. See the photos and watch the video, embedded after the jump.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

The worst thing about Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is the release date. No one in Hollywood wants to go up against Christopher Nolan‘s Inception, even a film which is aiming at a clearly younger demographic.  I’ve heard from a number of sources that Sorcerer’s is actually pretty good and will surprise people who see it.

But will anyone see it if they have the choice to see the next film from that guy who did The Dark Knight and Memento?

Walt Disney Pictures has released a new international movie trailer for Jon Turteltaub‘s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The trailer is basically a variation on the trailer released late last year in the states, but includes a bit more dialogue, action and a better look at Alfred Molina as the film’s villain Maxim. Shockingly, I’ve been hearing nothing but good things about this film from my insiders who are in the know.

So if you’re done watching that awesome Scott Pilgrim trailer again (really, we know you’re excited but it’s quickly becoming a problem), head on after the jump. As always, please leave your thoughts in the comments below.
