Earlier this week, The Hunger Games franchise joined the photo based social network Instagram and following the account is already paying dividends. The account revealed the next poster for the highly anticipated sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. On the poster Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), the newly crowned co-victor of the Hunger Games, is standing on a bluff looking down on the world. That’s pretty much where the world puts her at the start of this film, which is something President Snow (Donald Sutherland) is not too happy about. Check it out below. Read More »

One year after Katniss and Peeta won the Hunger Games, the evil President Snow is not amused. He’s got something very special planned for the Victors, something that will shake Panem to its core.
Similarly, one year ago The Hunger Games was a surprise box office champion and November 22, Francis Lawrence‘s sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, hits the big screen.
The first trailer for the film is now online. The movie brings Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Willow Shields back to roles they played in the first film, and adds Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Lynn Cohen, Meta Golding, Amanda Plummer and Jeffrey Wright. As the summer movie season is about to begin, trailers for the year’s fall and winter releases will start pouring in. One of the most anticipated among that lot is Francis Lawrence‘s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and the first trailer will premiere April 14 during the MTV Movie Awards. We’ll post it here at that time, so you don’t have to watch the show, but MTV provided a brief sneak peek. Check it out. Read More »

Lionsgate’s series of Capitol Portraits for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire continues today with three images of former victors. Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) refuses to take hers sitting down (though perhaps that’s just due to the practical difficulties of wrangling her super-fancy frock), while our first looks at Beetee (Jeffrey Wright) and Johanna Mason (Jena Malone) hint at strong, serious personalities. Check them out after the jump.
[UPDATE #1: New portraits for Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and Gale (Liam Hemsworth) have also been revealed. From a plot point, it makes no sense for Gale to get a portrait since he's not really connected to the Capitol in any way, but I guess from a marketing perspective it made even less sense to leave out one of the series' major characters. Hit the jump to check out the guys' posters.]
[UPDATE #2: And now there's one for Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) as well. See his with the others after the jump.]

The first Hunger Games film was released one year ago this month. Feels longer than that, doesn’t it? Maybe that’s because so many other huge blockbusters have been released since then. But The Hunger Games, unlike those other blockbusters, continues with a sequel coming out this year.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be released on November 22 and Lionsgate has already started marketing for the film. We saw the Victors Posters and now individual character portraits are being released. To start, we see Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks), Caesar Flickerman (Stanley Tucci) and Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson), all of whom are reprising their roles in the sequel.
UPDATE: We’ve added Cinna, played by Lenny Kravitz.

Just because Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) survived the 74th Hunger Games doesn’t mean they’re living happily ever after. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will reveal that they’ve left the frying pan only to jump into the, um, fire, as they’re forced to travel around Panem as smiling mascots for the Games.
Lionsgate has just unveiled two new posters for the pair’s Victory Tour, showing the pair in heroic poses. Unfortunately for them and the Captiol, though, it’s clear they don’t take to their new position easily. Hit the jump to check them out.

In the run-up to the first Hunger Games movie, Gary Ross and Lionsgate were careful not to reveal too much about the Games themselves. While they released an endless stream of trailers, clips, and images, all were taken from scenes before Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) entered the arena.
Based on the early marketing for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, director Francis Lawrence seems to be taking a similar approach. Photos have shown off the new characters but not much about what they’re doing, and the official plot synopsis has purposely been left vague. But it turns out that a finely tuned marketing strategy is no match for Google Earth, and we now have a satellite image of the new Hunger Games arena from the movie. Check it out after the jump.
