The Force Awakens Merchandise

As has become the case for every Star Wars film since The Phantom Menace, the merchandising for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will arrive well in advance of the film’s release on December 18th. As we predicted back in March, we’ll begin to see all sorts of previously unrevealed characters, ships, weapons and more when The Force Awakens merchandise hits shelves on September 4th. The Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer that dropped yesterday had a lot of great stuff that the first one didn’t. Han and Chewie, for example. A melted Darth Vader helmet. Actual interactions between characters. On the other hand, it had a lot less of that adorable scene-stealer known as BB-8. What’s a fan to do if they want it all?

Star Wars Celebration got off to a rousing start today with the Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel. Details were spilled, footage was revealed, cast members were celebrated — and among all that, a bunch of new official images were revealed.

Some were stills featuring characters like Rey (Daisy Ridley), Fin (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac); others were behind-the-scenes images of director J.J. AbramsKathleen Kennedy, and more. Flip through the new Star Wars 7 images after the jump.

J.J. Abrams Star Wars Force Awakens

Last month we got our first look at the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens cast, and last week we got to put some names to some faces as the character names were revealed. But there are still many more characters we haven’t met.

Star Wars The Force Awakens

Millions of voices that had been crying out guesses were suddenly silenced yesterday when Lucasfilm finally, officially announced the name of the new Star Wars movie: Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And then those voices immediately piped up again with snarky jokes, because the Internet will never not judge something a full year early.

But amid all the wild speculation of the past couple of years, it turns out there were at least a few people who were right on the money. One Star Wars fan correctly guessed the title back in December 2012. And another had made a fan film called Star Wars: The Force Awakens way back 2006, before we even knew the was going to be a Star Wars movie to name. The Star Wars Twitter has revealed the official title of Star Wars Episode VII. It’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There’s no “Episode VII” in this title treatment, but that doesn’t mean the naming convention is gone. (You don’t call it “Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back” right?) So for right now, the film is Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
