You’ll be able to see the new trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger this evening (it hits at 7:30 EST) but for now we’ve got a new poster that puts the heroic profile of star Chris Evans front and center. Advance word on the film, by way of a long-lead press screening or two, is very very good, and the movie is really starting to look like the summer action picture to beat. That new trailer will probably give us a better idea of what to expect. While you wait, check out the new poster below. Read More »
Yesterday we saw the first look at Jennifer Lawrence in costume and hair dye as Katniss Everdeen, the heroine of the Gary Ross adaptation of the young adult novel The Hunger Games. Our first look was a medium shot of Katniss via the cover of Entertainment Weekly, and scans of additional photos from the magazine have now emerged. Check out two new views of the Jennifer Lawrence version of Katniss, after the break. Read More »
Some few years ago the Coen Brothers scripted a remake of the ’60s romantic caper comedy Gambit (originally starring Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine) and the remake is finally shooting now under the direction of Michael Hoffman (The Last Station). Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz star in the key roles, and Stanley Tucci and Cloris Leachman have joined Alan Rickman and Tom Courtenay in the supporting cast. The first image of the leads is out now, and you can see a larger version after the break.
Also lurking below the jump is the first image from Abel Ferrara‘s new film, 4:44 Last Day on Earth, which stars Willem Dafoe. Neither of these images are quite earth-shaking, but they’re minor teases of what is to come. Read More »

David Hasselhoff has become the latest actor to join Piranha 3DD, the sequel to last year’s Piranha 3D (which in turn was a remake of the 1978 film Piranha). The new cast looks just as enjoyably eclectic as the last one — in addition to returning stars Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, and Paul Scheer, 3DD will also feature Katrina Bowden (30 Rock), Gary Busey (Point Break), Danielle Panabaker (The Crazies), David Koechner (Anchorman) and Matt Bush (Adventureland).
Here’s the plot synopsis — not that the premise is terribly difficult to figure out:
There’s something in the water . . . again. And this time no one is safe from the flesh eating fish as they sink their razor sharp teeth into the visitors of the best summer attraction, The Big Wet Water Park.
Piranha 3DD is currently shooting in Wilmington, NC under the direction of John Gulager (Feast). The film will open November 23, 2012. [The Hollywood Reporter]
After the jump: A plagiarizer, an Italian bird scientist, and a host of Hollywood stars.

Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Stanley Tucci will get a chance to channel his inner Ryan Seacrest as he’s been cast to play Caesar Flickerman in The Hunger Games. Flickerman is a popular, charismatic interviewer who speaks to the child Tributes on national television before they attempt to kill one another. He’s famous for radically changing his appearance, always seeking out the positive and looking younger than his age. Tucci was rumored to be up for a mystery role a few weeks ago. That mystery has now been solved. Read more after the jump. Read More »
Though they didn’t rank on our list of top ten roles yet to be cast in The Hunger Games, Lionsgate has announced two more child competitors to battle to the death in the upcoming Gary Ross directed film. Chris Mark and Jackie Emerson will play the District 5 Tributes. Fans know the female District 5 tribute, nicknamed “Foxface,” becomes a significant and worthy foe for Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson).
And while we’re on the topic of Hunger Games, Vulture is reporting that offers went out to Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci and Lenny Kravitz to appear in the film. What roles are they for? And wasn’t Vulture already wrong about John C. Reilly as Haymitch? Read more after the jump. Read More »
We were pretty curious and more than slightly excited when it was announced that Elijah Wood, Seth Rogen and Danny McBride would play the Beastie Boys in a short film called Fight For Your Right Revisited. The film picks up as the Beasties sneak out of the party they crashed in the 1986 ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)’ video, and then carries on along a ridiculous path of destruction and minor mayhem that, somehow, ends with two incarnations of the Beasties in a dance-off that turns into a very literal pissing match. (So, yeah, perhaps consider this one NSFW.)
The short premiered at SXSW and aired last night on MTV and Comedy Central, and now the whole thing is online. Check it out after the break. Read More »
