Unfinished Business Super Bowl spot

There are all-ages and adults-only versions of the new Unfinished Business Super Bowl spot, which shows off the comedy from Ken Scott, starring Vince Vaughn, Tom Wilkinson, and Dave Franco as a trio of unlikely colleagues who head to Europe in order to make a big business deal. Unfortunately, they run across a few of Vaughn’s old colleagues, played by Sienna Miller, James Marsden, and Nick Frost, who are trying to make the same deal. There’s a lot of drinking and shenanigans as everyone embarrasses themselves en route to success and/or failure. And this time it’s all cut to The Lonely Island’s track ‘Like a Boss.’ Read More »

American Sniper header

Editor’s Note: This review originally ran on November 12. We’re bumping it up now that American Sniper is in wide release.

Director Clint Eastwood has great aspirations for American Sniper. First and foremost, he hopes to make a movie paying tribute to the most deadly sniper in the history of the United States. That’s the late Chris Kyle, played by Bradley Cooper. He also hopes to show Kyle not as only a heroic solider, but a complex man confident in his actions and concerned about of their results. The film paints a grim picture of post-traumatic stress disorder and what it does to our veterans, especially in regards to their families. Finally, there’s also a drive to keep things exciting, so there are many gun battles in the deserts of Iraq.

Yes, American Sniper is an incredibly ambitious film with many moving parts. All of those parts work in certain instances, but only on rare occasions do they all come together at once. The disconnection makes the film fall just short of those great aspirations.

American Sniper had its World Premiere on Veterans Day at AFI Fest presented by Audi and you can read the rest of our review below. Read More »

Unfinished Business trailer

In Unfinished Business, formerly called Business Trip, Vince Vaughn is a guy who starts his own small upstart company after being forced out of a big outfit, only to find himself competing directly against his former colleagues for a big contract.  All he’s got on his side is an aging associate (Tom Wilkinson), a too-green newbie (Dave Franco) and a willingness to do anything to win the contract. Ken Scott (Starbuck) directs, and Sienna Miller, James Marsden, and Nick Frost also show up. Now you can see a red-band Unfinished Business trailer — one which certainly doesn’t skimp on vulgarity — and a work-safe green band version, too.  Read More »

A Case of You

Indie romcoms about self-doubting writers and quirky hipster goddesses are a dime a dozen, but Kat Coiro‘s A Case of You has a special secret weapon in the form of one Peter Dinklage. While the main romance revolves around Justin Long and Evan Rachel Wood, the Game of Thrones star seems poised to steal every scene he’s in as an odd barista with a hideous mustache.
