Next week brings the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and there are so many movies desperate to get promotion in front of the huge audience going to see the Harry Potter spin-off. And it seems Warner Bros. Pictures will be taking advantage of that by releasing a new trailer for Ben Affleck‘s latest directorial effort Live By Night.

Deadpool‘s record-breaking box office guaranteed a sequel, and while we’ve yet to learn when exactly we might see that sequel we’re starting to get a better idea of its shape. A couple of months ago we heard the character Domino might join the Merc with a Mouth on his next outing. Today a new report reveals which actresses could play her. Among the names on the shortlist are Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lizzy Caplan, and Sienna Miller.
UPDATE (10/31/2016): Three more names have been added to the Domino shortlist. Find out who they are below. Read More »
This weekend brings the world premiere of The Lost City of Z as the closing night film of the New York Film Festival. The adaptation of David Grann‘s true story of the same name has been written and directed by James Gray, and we’ve been waiting to hear when this movie might finally get a release after the trailer leaked earlier this past spring (and was taken down shortly thereafter). Now we finally have an answer. Read More »
It’s been four years since Ben Affleck‘s award-winning Argo hit theaters, but we’ll soon see another Affleck-directed picture. His adaptation of Dennis Lehane‘s Prohibition-era crime novel Live by Night was last scheduled to open in theaters early next year, but an awards-friendly release date was always speculated and talked about. It’s now confirmed Live by Night will open in select theaters before the year ends.
Below, learn the new Live by Night release date.

Not too long ago, we learned that Ben Affleck‘s long-awaited adaptation of Dennis Lehane‘s novel Live By Night may get an awards-qualifying release late this year before going wide in January. Now that appears to have been confirmed with the first trailer for the 1920s crime thriller making its way online. This looks like it has the potential to be Ben Affleck’s best movie yet.

High-Rise started dividing audiences at the Toronto International Film Festival. I was lucky enough to see Ben Wheatley‘s (Kill List) adaptation of J.G. Ballard‘s novel a few short weeks later at Fantastic Fest, where it was embraced more warmly by festivalgoers. High-Rise is far from a movie for everyone, and it’s better for it.

I haven’t been shy about lavishing praise on High-Rise, the latest piece of deranged and extraordinary madness from director Ben Wheatley, but I also haven’t spared the caution. This film isn’t going to be for everyone, but for a select group of adventurous movie fans, it’s going to be one of the best absolute best films you experience in 2016.
Because the film itself has proven so divisive, much of the marketing has focused on the one thing everyone can agree on: the stellar cast. A new batch of posters have arrived, showing off stars Tom Hiddleston, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans, and Jeremy Irons. But since this is High-Rise, these character posters are just a little skewed.

Tom Hiddleston is one of the few Marvel stars sitting out this summer’s Captain America: Civil War, but he might have something even better up his sleeve. This spring brings the release of Ben Wheatley‘s High-Rise, in which he plays a doctor named Robert Laing who moves into a high-end apartment building. He’s seduced by the easy luxury of life in the tower, which seemingly has everything a young man could need.
But tension and unease are brewing between the classes, and a charismatic provocateur named Wilder (Luke Evans) is fanning the flames of revolution. Full-fledged chaos breaks out, and Laing finds himself swept up as well. Watch the latest High-Rise trailer after the jump. Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year, Ben Wheatley‘s adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s 1975 novel High-Rise was finally picked up by Magnolia Pictures for release via their niche distribution arm Magnet Releasing. And with that deal in place, we now have the first High-Rise trailer, which functions as both a teaser for the movie and an advertisement for the titular London apartment complex where strange and vicious things may be afoot, all narrated by star Tom Hiddletson.
