These days, everything Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg touches turns to gold. This is the End and Neighbors were both massive hits and we’ll see a trailer for The Interview in a week or two. The other film they’re working on is a much bigger gamble though. It’s an R-rated animated film, a genre that rarely gets a mainstream release. However, Sony Pictures is betting big on the duo as they’ve just given the film, Sausage Party, a June 3, 2016 release date.
In addition to the release date, Paul Rudd, Danny McBride and Workaholics star Anders Holm have joined the already impressive voice cast which includes Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, Kirsten Wiig, Edward Norton and Nick Kroll. Read More »
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg filled their directorial debut, This Is The End, with a plethora of famous faces. For their first dip into feature animation, they’re doing something similar. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg long ago proved they were talented screenwriters with films such as Superbad and Pineapple Express. This summer, they added “director” to their resume with This is the End. Now they’re taking those skills into a whole new area: animation.
Rogen and Goldberg co-wrote and will co-produce what’s planned to be an R-rated animated film for Sony called Sausage Party. It’s not what you think. The film actually follows a sausage on a “quest to discover the truth about his existence” and will be filled with “all the irreverent, insightful and risqué R-rated humor we have come to expect” from the pair. Conrad Vernon (Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens, Madagascar 3) and Greg Tiernan will direct the film from a story by Rogen, Goldberg and Jonah Hill and a screenplay by Rogen, Goldberg, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir.
The CG animated film is aiming to be in theaters by 2015. Read the full press release below. Read More »
