Seth Rogen has said on a number of occasions that the desire to make his own animated movie came from a love for Pixar movies. Even though he didn’t exactly grow up on them as a child (he was already 14 when the first Toy Story arrived in 1995), he’s still loved them immensely as an adult. However, if Rogen was going to attempt to make his version of a Pixar movie, you know it wasn’t going to be anywhere near family friendly.
Sausage Party had a special screening here at Comic-Con last night, and the final result of years of development, test screenings and hard work is an outrageous comedy that brings the laughs hard, and all the most raunchy and raw hilarity hasn’t even been touched by the movie’s marketing.

Let’s get this out of the way right now. If you’re already on board for the raunchy, R-rated animated comedy Sausage Party from Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg, then you probably shouldn’t watch the new red band trailer that was just released. However, if you’re the kind of person that likes to watch all the trailers, then we can’t stop you from watching this latest tease that reveals much more about what happens after Frank the hot dog (voiced by Seth Rogen) learns what happens to food after it goes to the “great beyond” outside of the grocery store.

In show business, pretty much any publicity is good publicity. And in the case of the marketing for Sausage Party, it looks like Sony Pictures is making some weird choices in their efforts to promote the R-rated animated comedy from Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg. We’ve seen red band trailers, a Walt Disney inspired promo and an Independence Day PSA, but this latest video promoting the movie is the weirdest as it sees costumed character versions of Frank the hot dog and Brenda with the good buns appearing on a morning talk show.

In about a month, we’ll all be chomping down on some tasty cookout food when Independence Day rolls around in July. Thankfully, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s animated comedy Sausage Party isn’t hitting theaters before that to dissuade us from murdering all the food we eat.
A new Sausage Party TV spot has a bunch of new footage from the animated movie that imagines a world where humans don’t know that food is alive. Foods like hot dogs, carrots, bananas, peanut butter and anything you can think of come to life just like the toys in Toy Story. But in Sausage Party, rather than being cherished by humans, they’re viciously prepared, cooked and eaten, which comes as a big shock to the innocent food that usually celebrates being bought in the grocery store.

During Sunday night’s premiere of Preacher, a new TV spot for Sausage Party aired. Continuing to play up the R-rated spin on familiar animated movies, Rogen makes an appearance, in the spirit of Walt Disney, to introduce his latest creation, Frank (voiced by Rogen). With horn-rimmed glasses, an old-fashioned suit, and a retro setting, the co-writer, producer, and voice actor shows off his “Animation Imaginatorium.”

The film is basically an R-rated Pixar movie following a group of friends who just so happen to be foods in a grocery store. Their lot in life is to be chosen by people and taken home in a glorious manner. But then they learn what people really do with food when they get it home, and that’s when all hell breaks loose.
