Briefly: We’ve known for some time now that ABC’s awkwardly titled yet highly anticipated Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would air on Tuesdays this fall. Heck, ABC’s actually building the entire evening around that one promising new show, rather than anchoring the night with a returning favorite. Now, happily, we can get a little more specific.
The network has just announced that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will premiere September 24 at 8 PM. The comic book drama kicks off an exciting evening that includes three other freshman debuts: The Goldbergs at 9, Trophy Wife at 9:30, and Lucky 7 at 10. Of all the questions hovering over Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., perhaps the biggest is just what Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) is doing in it. Even the spoiler-y explanation we got earlier a few months back only raised more questions.
Happily, co-creator Jed Whedon assures fans they’ll get an answer — just not right away. Fans will be able to pick up hints from the first episode, but it’ll take some time for the whole truth to be revealed. Hit the jump to read his comments on Coulson and more. (Be advised spoilers for The Avengers follow from here on out.)

As Iron Man and Thor bring Marvel’s Phase Two into theaters, some of the MCU’s less famous inhabitants will be making waves on the small screen this fall. ABC officially took Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to series last week, and has now announced plans to air it this fall on Tuesday nights.
We got a delicious first look at the new show by way of a 30-second promo this weekend, and now an even more extended trailer has dropped. Check it out after the jump, along with a bunch of new stills and clips.

Agent Coulson’s fate in Marvel’s The Avengers was the emotional center of the movie. It was also a huge disappointment. The event certainly helped motivate the team to assemble and save the world, but it also meant we probably wouldn’t see Clark Gregg‘s fantastic character again.
Of course, that changed last year when Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed Gregg would reprise the role in the ABC pilot Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., co-written and directed by Joss Whedon. But exactly how was that going to work? Did Thor use some Asgardian magic? Did Tony Stark create a special arc reactor? Did Bruce Banner blast him with gamma radiation? None of the above. A source has revealed to /Film how Whedon and company plan to bring the character back for the ABC show and you can read it below. Read More »

Technically, Joss Whedon‘s S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot hasn’t even been given a series order, let alone set an airdate. But with its can’t-miss premise and intriguing roster of talent, it’s already shaping up to be one of the most exciting premieres 2013-2014 for TV viewers and TV execs alike.
ABC recently revealed some new information about the series on their website for advertisers, including an updated title and an official synopsis. The description doesn’t reveal a whole lot about the plot that we didn’t already know, but it does describe the Agents (played by Clark Gregg, Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, and Chloe Bennet) in slightly more detail. Joss Whedon‘s habit of calling back former Whedonverse alums is well established. But with the exception of Clark Gregg, who’ll reprise his role from the movies as Agent Phil Coulson, the cast of S.H.I.E.L.D. has so far been populated with all-new faces. (Well, new to Whedon.) That changed today, as former Angel star J. August Richards joined the ABC superhero series in a mysterious role. Hit the jump to keep reading.

It’s been some time now since Joss Whedon confirmed that Clark Gregg would be reprising his role as Agent Phil Coulson in ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D., but the question’s remained: How would he fit in? Coulson’s storyline in The Avengers didn’t set up him up for an obvious return in the TV series, which is set after the events of that film.
Well, Whedon isn’t spilling all the details, but he has since clarified one major piece of information. Coulson really and truly is back on the team in S.H.I.E.L.D., though we don’t know how quite yet. Hit the jump to keep reading.

Joss Whedon said it’s “nonsense.” Mark Ruffalo said it’s “not in the works.” Yet the idea of a standalone Hulk movie, maybe even a Planet Hulk movie, keeps coming up. The rumor gained real traction when Latino Review said The Avengers 2 would set up a Phase Three standalone movie with Hulk on a planet by himself, setting up an Avengers vs. Hulk showdown in The Avengers 3. That rumor was then seemingly obliterated. However, both Ruffalo and Whedon have recently clarified their thoughts on the whole thing. They haven’t changed their tunes, but each – especially Ruffalo – has left the door open a bit.
After the jump, read what the director and star had to say about Hulk as well as Whedon’s thoughts on a DC Cinematic Universe, how S.H.I.E.L.D. is going and Star Wars Episode VII. Read More »

Though ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D. will consist mostly of new characters, we can expect some familiar faces to help guide us through that new corner of the Marvel universe. Back in October, Clark Gregg, who played Agent Coulson in the movies, was confirmed to be returning (though it remains to be seen just how he’ll fit in). Now it he may be joined by his Avengers co-star Cobie Smulders as well. While the How I Met Your Mother actress isn’t locked in just yet, she acknowledged in a recent interview that there have been “definite talks” about reprising her role. Hit the jump to keep reading.
