Sony technology always shows up in films produced or financed by Sony Pictures — you can bet you’ll see some VAIO gear and Sony TVs in the Bond and Spider-Man movies, for instance. Other companies have deals with Hollywood to get good placement in movies, too.
Seems like Marvel Studios has a little deal with TV maker TCL. Some of the company’s products showed up in The Avengers, and now TCL has released its own Iron Man 3 trailer. It has a bit of new footage — nothing really Earth-shaking, but it might be enough to warrant a look if you’re eager to see everything that goes online from the shellhead sequel. Read More »
Looks like Iron Man 3 will be a meeting of redheads (or perhaps a battle), as Jessica Chastain is now in talks to play “a sexy scientist ever bit as smart as Tony Stark” in the film. That description is kind of depressing, as the whole ‘sexy scientist’ thing sounds like such a bad movie cliche. (I hear it and think of Tara Reid in Alone in the Dark.)
But I have faith in Shane Black, the co-writer and director of Iron Man 3. He can sometimes do great things with just that sort of superficially cliche role. And Jessica Chastain may be a relatively new talent, but she has proven herself to be tremendously capable in films like The Tree of Life, Take Shelter, The Debt, and more. I’ll be happy to see her in whatever role Black wants to write for her. Read More »
In October, Marvel Studios dropped the first trailer for Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers, which stars Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson. Since then we’ve seen quite a few stills and a bit of extra footage, all of which promises a union of characters from the Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man films, and a lot of destruction in New York City as the city is attacked by the army of Loki (Tom Hiddleston).
The extended Super Bowl spot really doesn’t reveal too much — there is some new footage of each of the heroes, especially of the Hulk, but for those who want to know just what sort of army Loki has assembled, the shot that hits about thirty seconds into the spot will be the key image. Read More »
Even with all the casting, set photos, posters and more, comic fans still might not be able to process that Marvel is actually making an Avengers movie. We’re actually going to see Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye all on screen at once, fighting the forces of evil. Now you can see it with your own two eyes.
Marvel has just released the teaser trailer for Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson. Check it out after the jump. Read More »

We gave you an early, low-quality look at footage from Guy Ritchie‘s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows earlier this week, along with two character posters that gave the first look at the fortune teller played by Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) and the devious arch-fiend Professor Moriarty, played by Jared Harris.
Now you can see the trailer in full, and in great quality, complete with Holmes in drag, speed-ramped fisticuffs and a moment of Holmes and Watson spooning amidst a hail of bullets. Read More »
One again, we get to see the first footage of a blockbuster via the whizzing graphics and frighteningly cheerful hosts of Entertainment Tonight. The trailer for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows will premiere this week (see it in front of Harry Potter, or very likely online) but you can check out some footage in an ET preview of the preview. That’s after the break, along with two character posters. Read More »
Last time we checked in on Sam Raimi‘s possible directorial gigs, he was primarily waffling between Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful and his still-in-development World of Warcraft movie, with a possible adaptation of the comic book Earp: Saints for Sinners as a long-range backup plan. Now Raimi has reportedly committed to Oz, which will also have a rewrite from high-profile scribe David Lindsay-Abaire. Read More »
On Saturday afternoon, Marvel Entertainment announced the line-up of their upcoming superhero team-up film The Avengers, on the stage in Hall H at Comic Con. You can read Russ’ full recap here. But a recap can’t accurately convey the atmosphere and electricity that was in the air as The Avengers assembled live on stage infront of a packed crowd of over 6,000 comic book geeks. Thankfully, someone in the audience captured the moment on video. Watch it now, embedded after the jump.

Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Update: The LA Times mentions that another director who is a top candidate for the film is Adam Shankman (Bedtime Stories). So let that temper your excitement a bit, at least for now.
Guess this answers the question about what Sam Mendes is doing while EON Productions figures out the future of James Bond. While the director was hired as a ‘consultant’ on Bond 23 (supposedly a precursor to being the director of that film, but without MGM having to put out any money for him yet) the shelving of that movie leaves him free.
Now we hear he may direct a Wizard of Oz movie, Oz the Great and Powerful, with leading man Robert Downey, Jr. Talk about change-ups. What’s going on here? Read More »
