Alejandro Amenábar (The Others) returns this summer with Regression, his first feature in six years. Emma Watson stars as a young woman who accuses her father (David Dencik) of a crime, and Ethan Hawke is the detective assigned to the case.
The dad claims not to remember the incident, so a psychologist (David Thewlis) is brought in to help him recover his memories. As they dig deeper into the mystery of what happened, the cop discovers that the case may be much more complicated and more horrific than they had initially suspected. Director Alejandro Amenábar, who directed Open Your Eyes, The Sea Inside, and The Others, goes back to dark atmospheres once again with Regression, which stars Emma Watson and Ethan Hawke. (You’ve seen the picture above, so you probably knew that.)

Hawke plays a detective investigating, and David Thewlis plays a psychologist who helps with the inquiry. Now we’ve got a Regression teaser, and a great poster, both of which you can see below.

Alejandro Amenábar, despite having made only a few films, has quite the resume. One of his early features was remade by Cameron Crowe as Vanilla Sky, and he directed The Sea Inside (which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film, and helped introduce Javier Bardem to global audiences) and The Others.
Now he returns this year with a new film called Regression. The crime thriller stars Ethan Hawke and Emma Watson in a story where Watson plays a young woman who accuses her father of a horrific crime, of which he has no memory. The first image of the pair (above) has just been released. It’s not a cheery image, but the return of Amenábar is a good thing indeed.
