At this year’s Comic-Con, Saturday was cram packed with the more interesting panels for the most anticipated upcoming movies. We were able to post all of out panel coverage by midnight that night, but we didn’t get to record a video blog for some of the films until Sunday afternoon. Because you asked for it, here is a video blog where we talk about the final four — Marvel Studios upcoming big screen adaptations of Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger and Universal’s Greg Mottola sci-fi comedy Paul and Jon Favreau‘s adaptation of Cowboys & Aliens. After the jump you can watch a video blog where the 2010 /Film comic-con crew Devindra Hardawar, Russ Fischer, and Adam Quigley join me in discussing these films and more.

We’ve been waiting for some time to see footage from Paul, director Greg Mottola’s follow-up to Adventureland, and given what we’ve seen today at San Diego’s Comic-Con, the wait was certainly worth it. Mottola, along with much of the cast –including Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Seth Rogen, Sigourney Weaver, Jeffrey Tambor, and Jason Bateman — hit the stage to chat about the film, and give us our first glimpse at the footage. It’s also the first good look we’ve gotten at the titular alien, voiced by Rogen.
The footage starts out with Frost and Pegg’s British nerds at Comic-Con, and it was definitely surreal to see a recreation of an event we’re currently attending. Mottola said that they couldn’t film at the real event, but it looks to be a loving recreation — complete with costumed fans and insane crowds.

Greg Mottola‘s follow-up to Adventureland is Paul, which sees a pair of British nerds (played by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost) on a road trip from Comic Con to Roswell, NM. Along the way they find a real alien named Paul, and adventures ensue.
Comic Con only plays into the first bit of the film, but Mottola’s crew recreated the show floor to shoot those scenes. Invited along to help recreate a big panel at the con were several webmasters, and their reports from set hit today. Along with those reports come new photos from the film — the first we’ve seen other than one promo snap glimpsed at Universal — and some new info about the movie. Read More »

We’ve seen a few video blogs from the set of Paul (like this and this), the geek road trip movie written by Nick Frost and Simon Pegg and directed by Greg Mottola. But we haven’t seen any stills showing the cast really in character, until now. Read More »
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost aren’t in Edgar Wright‘s new film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, but that isn’t going to stop Edgar from involving them in his behind the scenes video blogs. In the latest bonus episode, Wright throws a Frisbee, from Toronto to New Mexico, which through cinematic magic, is then caught by the stars on the set of Greg Mottola‘s Paul. Talk about a cross over. Watch both videos embedded after the jump.

Cool Posts From Around the Web:
We’ve told you what the movie Paul is about. That’s the road trip movie written by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, currently being directed by Adventureland‘s Greg Mottola and starring a whole bunch of awesome people. But it’s much more fun to let Pegg and Frost tell you what it’s about, especially with the slightly smarmy haircut and goatee Pegg is now sporting. Their latest video blog from the production diary What is Paul? goes into all the dirty details, or at least some of them. Watch it after the break. Read More »
The website for Paul, the film written by and starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and directed by Adventureland‘s Greg Mottola, has gone live. Whatispaul.com already has a handful of image galleries with on-set photos and a couple of video blogs featuring Pegg, Frost and co-stars Kristin Wiig and Joe Lo Truglio. The Jo Lo Truglio bit is probably the best, as he shows how the production is trying to go green. But Pegg and Frost’s introduction is a nice way to get into their entertaining world. Both are after the jump. Read More »
