I can’t realistically complain about the increasing practice of releasing trailers for trailers in the exact same post in which we’re showing you a trailer for a trailer. Instead I’ll take this moment to note that Fox seems to be very aware of a high level of interest in Prometheus, and is prepared to exploit every aspect of it.
The full trailer for Ridley Scott‘s new film will be released on Saturday, March 17, during an event parallel to this year’s Anaheim incarnation of WonderCon. Fox says:
On Saturday, March 17th at 4 p.m. PST/ 7 p.m. EST, legendary director Ridley Scott will premiere the first full trailer for one of 2012′s most anticipated films, PROMETHEUS, at the AMC Downtown Disney in Anaheim, CA. This invite-only premiere will follow a 30 minutes Q&A session with the iconic director conducted by Prometheus writer/producer Damon Lindelof.
That even will be presented online via Livestream, but in the meantime you can see a bit of the new trailer below. Read More »

Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor are in talks to join Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in James Wan‘s upcoming thriller, formerly called The Conjuring. The film, which is now going by the working title Untitled Warren Files Project, centers around a husband and wife paranormal investigation team (Wilson and Farmiga) dealing with spirits in a Rhode Island farmhouse. Livingston and Taylor would play a couple that moves into the farmhouse with their children, and are terrorized by the supernatural beings who reside there. The story is inspired by the real-life tale of the Perron family and paranormal experts Ed and Lorraine Warren in the 1970s.
Livingston will next appear in HBO Films’ Game Change, which premieres March 10, and this summer’s The Odd Life of Timothy Green. Taylor co-stars in Paul Weitz’s Being Flynn, which opens March 2. The Conjuring is scheduled to enter production in North Carolina in March. [THR]
After the jump, Stephen Dorff goes down in ’80s Beirut, while Mark Webber and Chloë Sevigny get hitched.

Patrick Wilson could be reuniting with his Insidious director James Wan for The Conjuring, as he and Vera Farmiga enter final talks to star in the new supernatural thriller. Written by Chad and Carey Hayes, the script centers around a married couple (Wilson and Farmiga) investigating spirits in a Rhode Island farmhouse, in what turns out to be the most terrifying case of their demonology careers. The plot is inspired by the true-life tale of the Perron family in the 1970s, as chronicled by daughter Andrea Perron in her memoir House of Darkness House of Light: The True Story.
Wilson currently stars on the big screen in Jason Reitman’s Young Adult, and on the small screen in CBS’ A Gifted Man. He’ll next appear in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, due out this summer. Vera Farmiga will star in next month’s Safe House opposite Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds. Production on The Conjuring is scheduled to enter production in North Carolina in March. [The Hollywood Reporter]
After the jump, a Twilight actress explores the underground dubstep scene.

Fox is pushing this a little far at this point, but with the release of the third tease for the trailer for Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus, we at least get many glimpses of behind the scenes footage. The two teases we’ve seen so far got us ready for the trailer release, which is scheduled for tomorrow, but we’ll take the third, just because things are slowing down as we approach Christmas.
As a bonus, we’ve also got a new still image from the movie. If you’ve been hungry to see Michael Fassbender wielding a flashlight, this is the one for you. Read More »
Well, this is a trailer for a trailer, but it still has some of the first footage most of you will see from Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus. This is some of the same video that was shown in Hall H at Comic Con this summer, with Ridley Scott sitting on a set that looks like it came right out of Alien. (And he is still trying to say that this movie is only barely connected to Alien!) There isn’t much here, but I imagine it will be more than enough to get you excited about what we’ll see when Prometheus really makes its grand debut when the trailer drops this Thursday. Hit the jump for the preview.
Update: There is a second preview video that seems like it was meant to arrive tomorrow, but which has been found online early. Read More »
Just over a week ago we saw the first real batch of photos from Ridley Scott‘s Alien prequel, Prometheus. I’m anxiously awaiting the first real trailer for the film, having seen the Comic Con footage and a glimpse of the bad trailer bootleg that also surfaced last week. (It’s not worth watching, so don’t bother to seek out the bootleg if you haven’t already seen it — seriously, just wait for the real thing.) I don’t know if this film is going to be any good, but I think it is going to be a joy to look at, if nothing else.
To tide us over until the trailer hits, here are the same images that were released not long ago, but in very nice high-res quality. Now you can check out all the little details. From these few images the ‘Alien DNA’ that Ridley Scott mentioned when announcing the movie is so very apparent. And, as I’m sure others have remarked, doesn’t that giant head look more than a bit like original Alien conceptual artist and effects designer H.R. Giger? Alien DNA, indeed.

If you haven’t been lucky enough to catch Paramount’s unannounced screenings of Young Adult in your town, you can still get an early look at the film here in the form of three newly released clips. Jason Reitman‘s latest collaboration with Juno writer Diablo Cody stars Charlize Theron as young adult author Mavis Gary, who returns to her hometown and attempts to win back her now-married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson).
The buzz around the film is that it’s almost uncomfortably dark, with Mavis as an interesting but very unlikeable character — and these clips seem to confirm just how messed-up she is, as she faces off against a hotel worker, fails to remember an ex-classmate played by Patton Oswalt, and schemes to steal her ex-boyfriend from his wife. Watch them after the jump.

Here’s a slightly different trailer for Jason Reitman‘s new film Young Adult. The film is scripted by Diablo Cody and features Charlize Theron as Mavis, a struggling, damaged author who heads back to her home town to win back her old flame, played by Patrick Wilson. Trouble is, he’s a married family man. Not that it really matters to Mavis. She’s determined to bulldoze her way back into his life.
As in the other trailer you may have seen earlier today, Theron’s character is announced as a giant bitch with the opening chords of David Bowie’s ‘Queen Bitch’ well before someone in the trailer gets around to calling her out on it. From there, we’re treated to a collection of moments of Mavis being terrible to others, and to herself. We’d heard the movie was supposed to be very dark, even uncomfortable. So far, that’s on point. But moments with Patton Oswalt lighten the mood a bit, if not quite in the way we’re used to seeing from him.
This trailer swaps out the clothes shopping gag that hits towards the end of the ‘clean’ trailer for a slightly more raunchy joke. Check it out below. Read More »
