transforming Optimus Prime cake

When you’re a kid, and you love something like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants, Masters of the Universe, Transformers, Star Wars or whatever, one of the coolest things you can do is have a birthday cake with your favorite characters thrown onto the frosting that is about to make you run around like a monster and give your parents a headache.

However, technology these days has made cake so much more impressive than just transferring an image to a flat sheet cake. There are cakes of all shapes and sizes, and one kid will never forget his sixth birthday, because his father made him an Optimus Prime birthday cake that actually transforms from vehicle form into the robot hero we all know.

LEGO Optimus Prime

While Hasbro’s Transformers are some of the most popular toys on the planet, and have been since the 1980s, the Autobots and Decepticons have yet to roll out in LEGO form. But one LEGO fan has changed that.

LEGO Master Builder and Flickr user Savelsberg has created a LEGO version of the iconic Autobot leader Optimus Prime, who usually turns into a semi-truck. And while you might expect this to just be a LEGO version of the truck form of Optimus Prime, believe it or not, this custom LEGO creation actually turns into the robot form of the Transformer.

No robot designs have been revealed so far; Bay’s previous comments that most aspects of the series have been redesigned suggests that we might see something significantly different from the character designs of the first three films. Check out Prime below, and get some info on the characters we saw yesterday. Read More »
