The upcoming film Now You See Me focuses on a character quartet nicknamed The Four Horsemen. Played by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco, they’re magicians who perform elaborate heists, giving the proceeds to the audience. This naturally gets the attention of the authorities and the story moves forward.

The month of May may be filled with superheroes, furious action, spaceships and hangovers, but one film aims to fool all the rest. That’s the star-studded heist film Now You See Me, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco ,Mark Ruffalo, Mélanie Laurent, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman.
Directed by Louis Leterrier, the May 31 release follows a group of magicians who perform incredible heists. An inventive piece of viral marketing tied to the film has just kicked off called the Diamond Heist Challenge. The task is simple. Scour the Internet looking for the thirteen diamonds in a deck of cards, each unlocking a very special and exclusive clip from the movie.

Trailers! Who has time to watch them all? There are something like forty wide releases due out this summer alone. If you assume each trailer runs about two minutes, that’s about an hour and half of your life you’ll never get back. That’s time you could’ve spent actually watching one of these movies.
If you only watch one trailer this spring, then, you’ll want to make it this one. This three-minute supercut teases most of the season’s biggest releases, from Iron Man 3 to The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. It’s surprisingly coherent, which may suggest that these titles aren’t as different as the filmmakers would like us to think. Or maybe it just proves that with the right music and some skillful editing, you can totally change the meaning of any scene. In any case, watch it after the jump.

As with movies, the art of magic relies on seamless illusion. Since we know we’re not really seeing the things we think we’re seeing — George Clooney, for instance, isn’t really a casino-robbing mastermind, and David Copperfield didn’t really make an airplane just vanish into thin air — it’s up to the artists to put on such a dazzling show that we can suspend our disbelief, and ooh and ahh just the same.
But on two nights last April, /Film and several other outlets were invited to the set of Louis Leterrier‘s Now You See Me to find out just how the magic movie sausage gets made. For one thing, it helps to have what Leterrier calls “great ingredients,” like an “amazing” script by Boaz Yakin and Edward Ricourt (with rewrites by Ed Solomon) and an eminently talented cast. This year is turning out to be a big one for magicians. Last month, Steve Carell and Jim Carrey duked it out as battling Vegas showmen in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, and next month our favorite non-Alliance illusionist Gob Bluth returns for the fourth season of Arrested Development. Then, just a few days after that, Louis Leterrier‘s Now You See Me will demonstrate what happens when magicians apply their special skills to criminal ends.
Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, and Dave Franco star the Four Horsemen, a magic supergroup that robs banks to line the pockets of their fans, while Mark Ruffalo and Mélanie Laurent play the agents trying to take them down. I’m in a black bus traveling south west of the Las Vegas strip to an undisclosed location. Even if I knew where the destination is, I am sworn to secrecy — I am unable to disclose the address.
We finally arrive at a large building with a very unusual small storefront: Korby’s Men & Boys, a clothing/tailor shop which advertises the “Finest Since 1964″. The store might appear to be from a different time and place, because it is. It is a replica of a New Jersey store once owned and operated by David Copperfield‘s father. Many people probably drive by this building, having no idea the wonders and magic housed inside the unsuspecting exterior.

Lionsgate made two release date changes today.
Now You See Me, which comes from director Louis Leterrier and features Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, and Michael Caine, has been pulled up from July 7 to May 31. The thriller centers around a group of illusionists who pull off heists, seemingly at the same time they’re on stage doing magic tricks. The trailer has been out for a while, and the cast is certainly appealing. Hard to tell if the movie will follow through on the great premise and talented cast. It’ll be up against narrow competition from Universal’s The Purge and a limited release of Zal batmanglij’s Sound of My Voice follow-up The East, but The Hangover Part III and Fast & Furious 6 will still be in theaters from the week before.
Another film from the studio has moved up, as well. The action/comedy sequel Red 2 was slated to open on August 2, but will now bow on July 19. Dean Parisot directed with Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren returning and Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones showing up to augment another story of retired assassins going back into action.
