As the race for the year’s most coveted trophies came to a close with this weekend’s Oscars ceremony, another much less prestigious awards competition was just getting started. Nominations have been announced for the 32nd Razzie Awards, handed out to the “worst achievements in film” each year.

Leading the 2012 list is Adam Sandler, whose involvement in Jack and Jill, Bucky Larson, and Just Go With It earned him a record-breaking eleven Razzie nominations. That’s more than twice as many as the previous record holder, Norbit star Eddie Murphy, received in 2007. Other standouts include Nicolas Cage, Ken Jeong, Sarah Palin, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I, and The Hangover Part II. ‘New Year’s Eve’ Trailer #2 and Poster

A new poster and trailer have dropped for New Year’s Eve, Garry Marshall‘s follow-up to his commercial hit Valentine’s Day. The film appears to be essentially just Valentine’s Day with warmer clothing and some casting changes. Once again, Marshall brings together lots of big-name celebs for a collection of interlinked love stories that revolve around the holiday name-checked in the title.

This time around, the stars are Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, Hector Elizondo, Robert De Niro, Halle Berry, Katherine Heigl, Josh Duhamel, Til Schweiger, Lea Michele, Zac Efron, Abigail Breslin, Sofia Vergara, Alyssa Milano, Hilary Swank, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ice Cube, Seth Meyers, John Stamos, Jon Bon Jovi, John Lithgow, Ludacris, and Ryan Seacrest, who all converge in or around Times Square on New Year’s Eve. Watch the trailer and check out the poster after the jump.

The first trailer has dropped for New Year’s Eve, Garry Marshall‘s not-quite-sequel to his 2010 hit Valentine’s Day. If you’ve ever seen Valentine’s Day, you probably know what to expect: big-name celebrities, a bunch of disparate storylines, and people crowing about how goddamn magical the holiday in question is.

This time around, many mini-plotlines converge in New York City on the titular holiday, and the cast consists of Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, Hector Elizondo, Robert De Niro, Halle Berry, Katherine Heigl, Josh Duhamel, Til Schweiger, Lea Michele, Zac Efron, Abigail Breslin, Sofia Vergara, Alyssa Milano, Hilary Swank, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Abigail Breslin, Ice Cube, Seth Meyers, John Stamos, Jon Bon Jovi, John Lithgow, Ludacris, and Ryan Seacrest. (Just in case you didn’t notice that that’s a lot of famous people, the trailer includes a shot of Heigl’s character exclaiming, “There’s going to be more celebrities here than rehab!”) Watch the trailer after the jump.

With everyone sleeping off the end of Sundance and taking a breather after the Superman casting announcement, there isn’t a lot of big casting news today. But here are a couple of quick hits. First up, there’s word that Abbie Cornish (Bright Star, Sucker Punch) has joined the cast of Whisperings and Lies, which was once called Rhapsody.

Bruce Beresford will direct the film about composer and pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff, and the understanding is that the focus will be on a love triangle he had with two women, likely his wife (and cousin) Natalia Satina and muse/singing protege Nina Koshetz. Abbie Cornish is reportedly set for one of those two roles, though we don’t know the specific one. Being happy that she’s got another film is good enough for me right now. More details as we hear back from reps. [Bleeding Cool]

After the break, Barbara Streisand mothers Seth Rogen (at last!) and Katherine Heigl gets to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Read More »
