Emily the Strange

For over past eight years there’s been talk now and then of an Emily the Strange movie. The comic book adaptation seemed most plausible when Chloë Grace Moretz (Neighbors 2: Sorority Risingsigned up to play the titular character (created by Rob Reger). The Moretz-led origin story was going to explain “how she came to gain her abilities that fuse technology and imagination,” but we heard very little about that adaptation in the past few years. We now do know, however, Amazon Studios is interested in an Emily the Strange animated film.

Once feared to be dead, the silver screen adaptation of Max Brooks‘ zombie bestseller World War Z has recently sprung back to life stronger than ever. Cinematographer Robert Richardson has just been brought on to serve as DP — and considering that he’s the award-winning eye behind films like Kill Bill, Inglourious Basterds, and Shutter Island, this is good news indeed. Scott Milam has signed on to write a big screen adaptation of Dark Horse Comics’ The Secret. You might recognize Milam’s name as he was featured in a story this past week. He’s probably best known as Darren Lynn Bousman‘s right hand screenwriter, who penned the unproduced crime horror film Wichita and also a remake of the Troma horror film Mother’s Day.
