If three is a trend, stage magic seems to be Hollywood’s next big obsession. McG recently signed on to direct Magic Castle, based on Hollywood’s secretive club for magicians, but he’s not even at the front of this wave. Next year sees the releases of The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Now You See Me, both of which also center around illusionists.
But hey, if they all look this fun I’m not about to complain. Directed by Louis Leterrier, Now You See Me stars Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Woody Harrelson as a quartet of acclaimed magicians who team for a special series of shows. Their jaw-dropping finale catches the attention of an FBI agent (Mark Ruffalo) and an Interpol agent (Melanie Laurent) when it turns out to involve literally stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman round out the impressive cast. Watch the first trailer after the jump.

The only person who knows what Christopher Nolan is going to do next is Christopher Nolan. But Michael Caine might know more than most of us. Nolan, who has confirmed his next project won’t be a fourth Batman film, or Justice League, is apparently working on an original idea as a follow-up to The Dark Knight Rises. He may have even cast the Oscar-winning actor in the film. Read Caine’s quote and more after the jump. Read More »
For the next two weeks, avoiding spoilers for The Dark Knight Rises might be as easy as tiptoeing through a minefield. Press screenings have begun, which means fan screenings will soon start, too, and all the secrets to Christopher Nolan‘s highly anticipated conclusion of his Batman trilogy will be out in the wild. Thankfully, this brand new 13-minute featurette has very little in the way of new spoilers.
The video takes us through the obvious story arc following The Dark Knight, as it talks about cast, characters and gives a great behind the scenes look at several of the big action scenes that have been revealed to date. We see the plane, the football field, Wall Street, and more. Acting as sort of a catch-all to the previously released images, posters, trailers and commercials, this featurette is an absolute perfect way to increase your excitement for the film without ruining too much of the story. Check it out below. Read More »

One of the wildcard films of 2012 is Now You See Me, directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk, Clash of the Titans).
Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco play The Four Horsemen, a group of illusionists that perform big business heists even as they’re on stage doing their magic act. Hot on their heels is FBI agent Mark Ruffalo and an Interpol agent played by Melanie Laurent. The film also features Common, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine. That cast, combined with the premise, has locked my interest in the film.
The first video look at the project is now available in the form of a set visit report from Entertainment Tonight. Check that out below. Read More »

Could romcom queen Kate Hudson be branching out at last? Earlier this week, she signed on for her first animated feature in DreamWorks’ Me & My Shadow, and she’s now gunning for action stardom with Everly. Joe Lynch (Knights of Badassdom) will direct from a 2010 Black List script by Yale Hannon. Hudson will play a woman trapped in her apartment as she fends off attacks from assassins hired by her ex, a ruthless mob boss.
Hudson is best known for her romantic comedy roles, like last year’s Little Bit of Heaven and Something Borrowed, but her upcoming slate shows a little more variety. In addition to Me & My Shadow and Everly, she also has Mira Nair’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist due out next year.
After the jump, Piper Perabo fights a bear and Common does magic.

With all the fuss about this spring’s The Hunger Games, I’d almost forgotten all about Josh Hutcherson‘s other blockbuster franchise, which began in 2008 with Journey to the Center of the Earth. But Hutcherson hasn’t, of course, and he’ll be reprising his role next month in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.
Hutcherson plays lead Sean Anderson, who teams up with his stepfather (Dwayne Johnson) to explore the fantastical, heavily CGI-ed wonderland of the title. Also along for the ride are a wacky helicopter pilot (Luis Guzman) and his daughter (Vanessa Hudgens), as well as Sean’s adventurous grandfather (Michael Caine). Watch the new trailer after the jump.
