A film adaptation of Steve Alten’s 1997 prehistoric killer shark book Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror has been on and off the table for the better part of two decades now. If you journey into the /Film archives, you’ll find a 2007 post about how New Line was killing their version after years of failed development. From there, the film continued to wade through murky development hell, with various directors coming and going. Finally, earlier this year, National Treasure‘s Jon Turteltaub climbed on board, Jason Statham signed on to star, and some Chinese financing made the whole project feel like less of a risk for Warner Bros.
Now, the first image from Meg has arrived, an image that stands in defiance to both God and man. This movie has officially been willed into existence.

Michael Bay‘s fourth Transformers movie opens in just a couple weeks, and Paramount has yet to really show the film publicly, or even in critic screenings. Instead, the studio is dropping a steady stream of TV spots featuring new footage, and even a clip or two. Below, you can watch a Transformers: Age of Extinction clip in which Mark Wahlberg does some heavy acting opposite a threatening Kelsey Grammer. The cast list for Transformers 4 is continuing to grow as the project nears production. Resident Evil: Retribution actress Li Bingbing has just become the first Chinese star to join the Chinese co-production, while a search for extras gets underway in Texas.
And thanks to all of that movement, we now have a little more information on some of the roles that have already been cast, including those played by Mark Wahlberg and Kelsey Grammer. Hit the jump for the latest updates on the film.

With a worldwide gross of $296 million, 2010’s Resident Evil: Afterlife was the best office performer yet of the video game-based Resident Evil film franchise. That made a fifth Resident Evil a no-brainer, so over the past year and change there’s been a steady stream of news, casting announcements, and set photos from the movie that would eventually be titled Resident Evil: Retribution.
Today we finally have the first real trailer for the Retribution, and it should be a treat for Resident Evil fans — once you get past the first 20+ seconds of Sony commercials, that is. Yep, Sony electronics ads actually make up over a third of the trailer. Watch it after the jump.
