In just under a couple months, Netflix will bring Jessica Jones online, their second series collaboration with Marvel Studios. So far we’ve only gotten a teaser promo confirming the release date in November and some first look photos showing Krysten Ritter in the title role as a retired superhero working as a private eye.

The first Jessica Jones teaser released last week was fantastic — gorgeous, moody, mysterious, and even helpful, thanks to its release date reveal. But it didn’t actually show us much of the series itself. For that, we turn to the new batch of official images released today.
Krysten Ritter leads Netflix’s latest Marvel series as the titular character, whose short-lived stint as a superheroine has come to a tragic end. She tries to rebuild her life as a P.I. who specializes in cases involving superpowered people. Currently on stage before the Television Critics Association is a panel of Netflix showrunners representing a selection of the streaming service’s top original shows. Melissa Rosenberg is on the Showrunner Panel representing Marvel’s Jessica Jones TV series, which stars Krysten Ritter (pictured above in Breaking Bad). Asked about her upcoming show, the edgy tone Rosenberg described seems akin to their Daredevil series, though she emphasizes the two shows are very different.
And while Jessica Jones is based on the Marvel Comics series Alias (no relation to the TV show), which was one of the first “R-rated” runs from Marvel’s MAX imprint, Rosenberg says the Netflix series goes even further than the comics did. Read More »

Lots of fans were thrilled when Krysten Ritter was cast as the lead of Marvel’s new Netflix series A.K.A. Jessica Jones, but it seems Ritter herself wasn’t one of them. A fan, that is — Ritter admits she didn’t have much comic book experience before she booked the role.
However, that’s changing as Ritter gets deep into preparations for the project. In a new interview, she geeks about the role, declaring the Jessica Jones comics to be the the most addictive thing since NPR’s Serial. Marvel has yet to cast Captain Marvel, but they’ve chosen the lead of the Netflix series Jessica Jones. Krysten Ritter, best known for her work on Breaking Bad, Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars, has been tapped to play the lead character. Jones is a superhero with post-traumatic-stress-disorder who retires and becomes a detective, helping both regular people as well as superheroes. Melissa Rosenberg is showrunning the series, which will be the second of four Marvel Studios is bringing to Netflix. The first, Daredevil, is almost done shooting its first season.
