samuel l jackson john wick 3

Normally, “Actor A Wants to be in Franchise B” stories aren’t worth the digital ink or the imaginary paper they’re printed on. However, it’s not every day that Samuel L. Jackson says he loves the John Wick series and wants to be in the third movie. After all, this is the kind of thing we could actually see happen and a boon for the people who actually make these movies. Is there anyone in the world, filmmaker or viewer, who wouldn’t want to see Jackson strut into the world of John Wick and do this thing? No. Of course not. C’mon.

John Wick 3

After the success of John Wick: Chapter Two, it’s fair to say more than a few people are already anticipating John Wick: Chapter 3. Director Chad Stahelski, writer Derek Kolstad, and Keanu Reeves have expressed the desire to return their glossy and violent world of assassins. They’ve shared ideas for where they’d like to see Mr. Wick go next, including Tokyo, Jerusalem, or some other part of the world.

John Wick Chapter 3 setting

John Wick: Chapter 2 has only been in theaters for a few days, but fans (like us) are already clamoring for a sequel, and the filmmakers seem more than happy to serve one up. Though they haven’t gotten the greenlight just yet for John Wick 3, star Keanu Reeves, director Chad Stahelski, and screenwriter Derek Kolstad spent a good portion of their Chapter 2 press tour talking up their hopes and plans for Chapter 3, and we’ve rounded up everything we know about the movie right here.

One big question that remains unanswered, though, is where the story will take place. The first John Wick was set in New York, and the second hopped across the pond to Rome. So where might Wick head next? In a recent interview, Stahelski dropped some hints.  Read More »

‘John Wick 3’: Everything We Know So Far

John Wick 2 Shoot Date

Like many of you, John Wick kicked my ass when it was released in 2014. I went into John Wick: Chapter 2 expecting to be amazed with the fight scenes (which I was), but I has not anticipated that I would walk out of the theater talking about the worldbuilding of this new film. Lets take a look at what may await us in John Wick: Chapter 3, pieced together from interview comments from director Chad Stahelski, screenwriter Derek Kolstad, actor Keanu Reeves, and more.

Chad Stahelski interview

John Wick: Chapter 2 isn’t a sequel that delivers more of the same. There are familiarities, but it’s more like the same engine in a slightly bigger, more stylish, and more aggressive car. The simplicity of the first movie remains, but the titular character finds himself in a larger and more dangerous world this time. The world, which takes a few ideas from Arthurian mythology, grows along with John Wick in the sequel.

Director Chad Stahelski, who co-directed the first movie with the uncredited David Leitch (Deadpool 2), shows audiences a different side of the character, while also delivering on the quality action sequences audiences now expect from a John Wick film. The director ups the stakes and increases the scale in the sequel without ever abandoning the titular character’s arc during all the beautifully orchestrated madness.

We recently spoke with the 87eleven co-founder at the press day for the sequel. We discussed finding the right story to tell, the film’s opening and closing action scenes, the influence of Buster Keaton, workshopping scenes with Keanu Reeves, and more with the filmmaker. Below, read our Chad Stahelski interview.
