Since Disney’s D23 Expo in 2011, Wreck-It Ralph has been one of our most anticipated films. The Disney Animation Studios production is an ode to old school video games as the bad guy in a popular game gets fed up with his lot in life and escapes to other machines in the arcade. That character, Ralph of the title, will encounter all kinds of classic characters you know and be voiced throgh the vocal stylings of John C. Reilly.
Up until now, all we’d seen of the film is some concept art and a teaser poster that showed what Ralph looked like in 8-bit form. Now, one site has found both an image of Ralph from the movie, and another showing his love interest, Vanellope von Schweetz, voiced by Sarah Silverman. Check them out after the jump. Read More »

If even Martin Scorsese can’t convince people to watch Sacha Baron Cohen‘s The Dictator, I don’t know what can. But Paramount, of course, continues to try their hardest. Their latest effort is a red-band trailer that offers several fresh jokes, including bits on childbirth and 9/11.
It also finally, helpfully, offers an explanation of exactly how Admiral General Aladeen (Cohen) goes from being the all-powerful ruler of the Republic of Wadiya to being a grubby-looking cashier at a grocery store. Watch the trailer after the jump — and as usual, be warned that red-band means NSFW, in this case mostly for language.

Disney Animation’s computer animated feature film Wreck-It Ralph follows Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly), a bad guy from a Donkey Kong meets Rampage inspired 1980′s arcade game Fix It Felix Jr. The story is set inside the world of video games. Fix It Felix Jr. is one of the remaining classic arcade machines in the back corner of an arcade. When the arcade closes, the characters in the games connect and interact between the worlds of the different machines. Ralph realizes that he no longer wants to be a bad guy, and adventures into other games in effort to become the hero.
This connected world allows the movie to feature interactions between some of your favorite classic video game characters, Roger Rabbit-style. Footage screened at CinemaCon has confirmed appearances from classic video game characters from Nintendo, Midway Games, Sega and more. Details after the jump.

This edition of Sequel Bits is brought to you by the letters “L,” “O,” and “L.” Which is just my not terribly clever way of saying it’s all about the comedies. After the jump:
- Will Ferrell confirms that Anchorman 2 is still dead, but Step Brothers 2 could get going soon
- Jay Baruchel briefly talks Cartoon Network’s Dragons and How to Train Your Dragon 2
- Ed Helms offers a very minor status update on The Hangover Part III

Last year Disney announced the video game-inspired film Wreck-It Ralph, which is the new incarnation of a project called Reboot Ralph that the studio was toying with for a couple years.
Starring John C. Reilly as the voice of Ralph, the film follows the title character, an 8-bit video game Bad Guy who dreams of being a hero. In order to change peoples’ perception of him, he travels to another video game land to confront the first person shooter character Sergeant Calhoun, voiced by Jane Lynch. But things don’t work out quite as Ralph planned.
The only footage shown for the film so far was unspooled at D23 last year. Now we’ve got a few images that show a bit of what the film has to offer. Check them out below. Read More »

The man who brought us Borat, Ali G, and Brüno heads back into the realm of sociopolitical satire in the first trailer for The Dictator, which hit the Web today. Sacha Baron Cohen stars as Middle Eastern despot along the lines of Muammar Gaddafi, who gets sent to the United States in exile and spends his days riding camels down Fifth Avenue, ziplining across Manhattan, and sleeping with Megan Fox. John C. Reilly and Ben Kingsley also star. Watch the first trailer after the jump.

Take four of the best actors working today, throw them into a room and let the cameras roll. That seems to be the claustrophobic vibe director Roman Polanski is going for in his film adaptation of the Yasmina Reza play Carnage. The film stars Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly as two sets of parents who meet for an awkward, civil discussion that soon devolves into madness. It’s scheduled to open December 16. Check out the trailer after the jump. Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
If the opening four and a half minutes of Wreck It Ralph is any indication, Disney has another big time hit on their hands. Scheduled for release November 2, 2012, Wreck It Ralph is an old school, 8-bit video game bad guy, voiced by John C. Reilly, who is tired of being bad. One night, he sneaks out of his game console in the arcade and travels to different games hoping to find one where he can be a good guy. Featuring cameos from famous video game characters, homages to newer games and more, the footage shown at the D23 Expo was very crude animation cut with storyboards. Even in that rough state, it looked and sounded like something special. Read about the scene after the jump. Read More »
