Cool Stuff: Fraggle Rock Vinyl Figures

Cool Stuff: Fraggle Rock Vinyl Figures

Cool Stuff: Fraggle Rock Vinyl Figures DoozerIn celebration of the 25th anniversary of Jim Henson’s Fraggle Rock, MINDStyle has announced plans to release a series of Fraggle Rock vinyl figures later this year.

The initial line-up will include: Gobo, Mokey, Wembley, Boober, Red, Uncle Traveling Matt, The Trash Heap, Sprocket, King Gorg, a Fraggle, and the Doozers, each of which will include a “special building block” with “different letters of the alphabet on them, so with several figures you’ll be able to spell out words or names with the Fraggle blocks.” Seems rather pointless to me.

The Doozers were always my personal favorite. I can’t wait to get a bunch of these guys (pictured above from the NewYork ToyFair 2008) on my bookshelf building their their clear plastic-looking structures (they should release a Doozer playset).

Jim Henson: The Movie

Jim Henson Movie

Empire Film Group has acquired the motion picture production and distribution rights to Henson, an original screenplay by Robert D. Slane that tells the story of the life and achievements of Muppets/Sesame Street creator Jim Henson. Empire plans to hire a major director, such as Penny Marshall, and name talent for this $30 million production which is aiming for a Summer 2008 start. The screenplay follows Henson’s rise from a teenager to entertainment mogul.

This biopic has tons of potential. I wish I could get my hands on a copy of the script. I wonder if they handle some of the moments with fantastical sequences (ala Miss Potter) but with puppets, with humor like Shakespeare/George Lucas in Love, or if the whole thing is played more traditionally.
