Under most circumstances, a Martin Scorsese / Ray Liotta reunion would be cause for celebration. In the case of Campus Life, however, their team-up is more puzzling than enticing.
Jesse McCartney leads the cast of the indie thriller, about a group of college kids trying to uncover a supernatural secret. But based on the trailer, the bigger question may be what Scorsese and Liotta are doing in this seemingly low-rent Chronicle imitation. Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

In 2009, Paramount released Oren Peli‘s tiny little movie Paranormal Activity, to great success. That film has already spawned two hugely successful sequels, and even as Paranormal was being released Peli was already working on another film called Area 51.
There’s not yet any sign of Area 51, two years later, but Peli is reportedly still finishing that movie, while working as a producer on other projects: the TV show The River, Rob Zombie’s new movie The Lords of Salem, and a project he wrote which was called The Diary of Lawson Oxford, but is currently being referred to as the Untitled Oren Peli Project.
This last one is a post-apocalyptic thriller that started shooting this week in Eastern Europe. We’ve got more details after the break. Read More »

Most days, I love my job. Other days, I’m forced to watch the trailer for Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. Yep, the squeaky-voiced CGI hellions are back for a third installment of their regrettably successful film franchise. Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, and Jesse McCartney return as the Chipmunks, along with Anna Faris, Christina Applegate, and Amy Poehler as the Chipettes and Jason Lee and David Cross as human beings. Watch the trailer after the jump.

Entertainment Weekly reports that M. Night Shyamalan has found the cast for The Last Airbender, the live-action adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon anime-inspired series Avatar.
Karate star Noah Ringer (discovered in a Texas open casting call) will play Aang, the Avatar (the spirit of the planet manifested in human form), the last surviving Airbender and a monk of the Air Nomads, a race of people with the unique ability to manipulate the air around them. He is assigned with the task of keeping the Four Nations at peace.
Jackson Rathbone (Twilight‘s Jasper Hale) is in talks to play Aang’s friend Sokka, a warrior of the South Pole’s Southern Water Tribe, a race of people who can control and manipulate water.
Nicola Peltz (Deck the Halls) has been cast as Sokka’s fourteen-year-old sister Katara, the last remaining Waterbender of her entire Tribe.
Pop/R&B singer Jesse McCartney is in talks to play the Fire Nation’s evil prince Zuko. Exiled from the Fire Nation by his father, Zuko is sent to capture the Avatar in order to restore his honor and right to the throne.
The Last Airbender is being targeted for a July 2nd 2010 release.
