James Wan Insidious 2

Briefly: The team behind Saw and Insidious both had their new horror movies moved around on the schedule today. Insidious Chapter 3, written and directed by Leigh Whannell, has been moved back one week to June 5, 2015. One year after that his partner in crime, James Wan, will release The Conjuring 2. The new Conjuring 2 release date is set for June 10, 2016.

Whannell wrote the first two Insidious films with Wan directing, before moving on with the franchise solo. In the interm, Wan went on and made Furious 7. The pair also co-created the Saw franchise. [Box Office Mojo]

Insidious Chapter 3 trailer

Chapter 3 in the Insidious saga hits theaters next year and your first trailer is here. Written and directed by Leigh Whannell, Insidious Chapter 3 is a prequel to the other two films, showing how ghost hunter Elise (Lin Shaye) learns about The Further, via the plight of a young father (Dermot Mulroney) and his daughter (Stefanie Scott). Insidious Chapter 2 (2)

Leigh Whannel is currently filming Insidious Chapter 3 and not only do we have our first look at the film, we’ve got new plot information and a chance for fans to visit the set. The film, which features new characters played Dermot Mulroney and Stefanie Scott as well as returning characters played by Lin Shaye, Angus Sampson and Whannell himself, opens May 29, 2015,  It will show events that “predate” what happens in the first two films. Fast Furious 7 release date

Two James Wan projects have new release dates. Wan’s first entry in the Fast & Furious series, Fast & Furious 7, will now open a week earlier than previously planned. And Insidious Chapter 3, which counts Wan as co-creator and producer, with Leigh Whannell writing and directing, is now set for May 2015. Details on both films follow after the break. Read More »

They story of the Lambert family concluded in Insidious Chapter 2, but the ending of that film teased a whole new world. What we saw there will expand in Insidious Chapter 3, written and directed by series co-creator Leigh Whannell. The new sequel is currently scheduled for release April 3, 2015.

The two Insidious films, released in 2011 and 2013, were written by Leigh Whannell and director James Wan, the same pair that created the Saw series. We’ve known for a while that a third Insidious film would arrive in 2015, and that Whannell is writing that, too.
