A second trailer for Tarsem‘s Immortals — aka his Fight Club + Caravaggio + Clash of the Titans + 300 — has arrived. There isn’t a lot of new footage within, but there is a much greater focus on story this time out. The official release of the trailer for Tarsem‘s Immortals is now out. Now you can see just what Tarsem meant when he said he was going for a sort of “Caravaggio meets Fight Club” approach — really, it looks more or less like established Tarsem style as seen in The Cell and The Fall, filtered through 300. There is some real beauty in this trailer, but as has been the case with the director’s movies in the past, it’s probably too early to make a call about whether the movie will be more than a great slideshow or not. Last night E! showed part of the first trailer for Tarsem Singh‘s Immortals, and a bootleg video of the segment is online. The footage seems to make up most of the film’s teaser trailer, and shows off a lot of post-300 action, filtered through Tarsem’s recognizable style, and shows off most of the core cast that includes Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Isabel Lucas, Freida Pinto, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, John Hurt and Mickey Rourke. Check it out after the break. Read More »

There are five new character posters for Tarsem‘s Immortals, which tells a very Clash of the Titans-style story. These images dramatically play up the sort of imagery that became the accepted mainstream way of envisioning burly ancient warriors thanks to 300, but if you look at the actual stills for the film you’ll see the style is a lot more restrained. Tarsem’s strength has always been his visual sense — even when he was egregiously borrowing from other artists, so I’m hoping these posters are merely a ploy to capture the attention of an audience the studio thinks is attuned to 300. Good news for fans of director Tom McCarthy (The Station Agent, The Visitor, Game of Thrones), as his new film Win Win will open on March 18 instead of March 25. The film stars Paul Giamatti as “Mike Flaherty, a senior-care attorney and high-school wrestling coach in small-town New Jersey, he compromises his ethics to better support his family — with consequences, of course.” Amy Ryan, Burt Young (Rocky) and newcomer Alex Shaffer also appear.
