Over the weekend we got a ton of emails from readers who saw I Am Legend. You see, during the opening sequence in an abandoned Time Square, a huge billboard is visible advertising a Batman vs. Superman feature film which will hit theaters on 05-15-10. Fans have started to speculate that this could be the Justice League movie. As we’ve told you before, director George Miller recently announced that the Justice League film was still on the fast track, but would be released under a new title. And rumor has it that a fight between The Dark Knight and The Man of Steel is a main focal point of the Justice League script.
But don’t get too excited, producers are saying that the poster in the movie is a completely fictional creation. The sight gag was an addition to the film by screenwriter/producer Akiva Goldsman, who was originally attached to a Superman vs. Batman screenplay that never got produced. So calm down – there isn’t going to be a Batman vs. Superman movie just yet. A very cool easter egg indeed.

You can watch the first three minutes of I Am Legend on Yahoo! Movies. It’s a pretty cool sequence with Will Smith and his dog Sam driving around trying to hunt deer in an abandoned New York City. Sadly, the animal effects you see in this clip are the best they get in this adaptation. Some of the creature effects later on in the story are horrendous (Van Helsing bad). But this video clip showing the first three minutes of the film gives you a good indication of the first half of this film. Plus the abandoned New York stuff is really cool. Check it out.

I Am Legend hits theaters on December 14, 2007.
CHUD has confirmed that Warner Bros had to do reshoots last week for the upcoming Will Smith sci-fi thriller I Am Legend. And rumor has it that the studio was unhappy with the film’s finale, which is said to be very faithful to Richard Matheson’s original story. So if true, expect something upbeat and more action packed.
I’m wondering if the ending tested poorly or if it was just an internal decision? Either way, reshoots are never a good sign for any film, especially this late in the game. I Am Legend is scheduled to hit theaters exactly one month from today. The press junket/screening for the movie takes place in two weeks. The guys at Warners better hurry. Am I now the only one still looking forward to this film?
Two new I Am Legend movie trailers are now online. First up is an international trailer. The new look is less mysterious, and more forthcoming. I liked it a little better the other way when less was more (check out that teaser trailer here).
The official domesticc trailer makes I Am Legend look a lot more like a kick ass sci-fi movie. I prefer the new US trailer, and I think you might as well. It’s more action packed and sharply edited to Clint Mansell’s awesome score from The Fountain. I’m probably more excited for this film, than any movie coming out in the rest of 2007 (that I haven’t yet seen).
Check out the new trailers below.

Are you itching to see some footage from The Dark Knight? Omelete is reporting that Warner Bros plans to release a 7-minute prologue to The Dark Knight in front of the IMAX screenings of I Am Legend on December 14th. The footage will apparently feature Heath Ledger as The Joker. But remember, the 7-minute prologue will only be attached to the IMAX version (which I’m assuming is a cross promotion since Dark Knight will also premiere on the huge IMAX screen). We’ll try to find out more details.
Warner Bros has released a new poster for the big screen adaptation of I Am Legend starring Will Smith. This is one of the films I’m really looking forward to this holiday season. If you haven’t seen the movie trailer released in June, click here to watch it now.
The middle of the poster features very small text that reads “Is there anybody out there. Anybody please. You are not alone. My name is Robert Neville, I am broadcasting on all AM frequencies. I am a survivor living in New York City. I am living day by day, searching for others. I will be at the South Street Sea Port Every Day at midday when the sun is highest in the sky.” And then it repeats. And underneath the Will Smith title credit is the tagline “The Last Man on Earth is Not Alone.”
