Update: THR says that Fox has also hired writer Daniel Casey to work on the film. No details are given on whether he’s working from Kyle Ward’s draft or a new script. Original article follows.

We’ve known since at least last summer that Fox is likely to make a sequel to Hitman. The original film made $100m internationally against a $30m budget, and with a new game coming out it didn’t take a magician to figure that Fox would want another movie. Producers Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter have been discussing their various in-development videogame movies, giving very candid status updates and even the odd bit of surprising news. Perhaps the biggest single headline would be the signing of Bruce Willis for a Kane and Lynch movie. If you don’t know the game and can’t make and educated guess but are still somehow curious, he’d be the titular Kane.

In Summer of 2008, it was reported that Willis was in negotiations and Russ noted that he was still attached a few months ago. This latest break sounds somewhat more solid.

uncharted

For quite some time, Sony has quietly been working to develop a film based on the PlayStation 3 game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Now with the game’s sequel getting great press in the wake of E3 (and thanks in part to a fun multiplayer beta) Sony has dropped word that the movie is actually happening. Kyle Ward has been hired to pen the script, which makes his second video game-related announcement in two days (He’s also scripting Hitman 2). Read More »
