risk documentary trailer

Showtime has picked up Risk, a documentary about Julian Assange and WikiLeaks by Citizenfour director Laura Poitras that debuted at Cannes last year.

The news of Showtime debuting Risk came along with a trailer teasing the documentary’s connection to the 2016 elections and the hacked Democratic National Committee emails — a facet that Poitras has added to Risk‘s plot even after the documentary was initially shown to audiences.

Hillary Clinton Donald Trump Presidential Debate Election 2016

If there’s one thing 2016 taught us, it’s this: be careful what you joke about on Twitter, because it just might end up coming true. You might actually see serious politicians arguing on the debate stage about the size of their junk. You might actually end up with a president whose main hobby is going on Twitter rants. And Ryan Murphy might actually turn the 2016 presidential election into his next American Horror StoryYup, that’s the newly revealed theme for the seventh season FX’s horror anthology series, which premieres this fall.  Read More »

Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live

This weekend brings the first episode of the 42nd season of Saturday Night Live, with Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie hosting. This will be the first season without Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah in years, and it will also have two new head writers in control of the night’s sketches, and three new cast members. But there’s one more big change coming this season.

While recent years have seen presidential candidate Donald Trump played by the recently departed Taran Killam, followed by the return of Darrell Hammond in the role to allow Killam to play former candidate Ted Cruz, this season will put someone else in the role, and he isn’t a cast member. Alec Baldwin will be playing Donald Trump on this season of Saturday Night Live, and he’ll be going head-to-head with recent Emmy winner Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton in a debate sketch this weekend.

Hillary Clinton on Between Two Ferns

Since we’re right in the middle of election season, we’re undoubtedly going to be seeing presidential candidates popping up everywhere leading up to November. Most appearances will be very serious in nature on various news programs, talks shows and more, but every now and then we’ll get to have some laughs at their expense too.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton appeared on a new episode of Funny or Die’s ongoing web series Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis, and though it’s not quite as charming or funny as Barack Obama’s appearance back in 2014, there are still some really good laughs to be had here.

Hillary Clinton is set to appear in an upcoming episode of the Comedy Central series, and the potential 2016 presidential nominee has just announced the news in a most Broad City-like way. See a behind-the-scenes image from the Hillary Clinton Broad City episode after the jump.  Read More »

Carey Mulligan

Carey Mulligan is unmistakably British, but her recent roles have brought her more and more frequently to this side of the Atlantic. Her most recent role saw her playing one of American literature’s most iconic dream girls, and her next release puts her in the middle of the ’60s folk scene in New York City.

Now Mulligan’s looking likely to portray another famous American figure: politician Hillary Clinton. Though she’s just one of several actresses in contention for the James Ponsoldt-directed biopic Rodham, a new report indicates that she’s currently the frontrunner for the part. Dennis Quaid is Bill Clinton

quaid clinton

Dennis Quaid is set to play President Bill Clinton and Michael Sheen will reprise his role as British Prime Minister Tony Blair in HBO Film’s The Special Relationship. The movie tells the story of the “unique and sometimes turbulent political relationship between the newly installed PM and the U.S. president.”

Frost/Nixon playwright Peter Morgan will make his directorial debut based on a screenplay he also wrote. Sheen previously played Blair in The Queen and the television movie The Deal, both of which were also scripted by Morgan. Julianne Moore has also signed on to play Hillary Clinton.

Josh Brolin seemed like an extremely odd choice to play George W. Bush in Oliver Stone’s W., but ended up surprising everyone. Quaid seems like a more obvious casting choice for Clinton, but is that a good thing? People might not remember this but Quaid has played a President on the big screen before — in the 2006 comedy American Dreamz.

Discuss: Do you think that Dennis Quaid is a good choice to play Bill Clinton?
