the opening of blade runner 2

Blade Runner 2 is aiming to shoot this summer. Years ago the sequel didn’t sound like such a great idea, especially after some Alien fans felt burnt by Ridley Scott‘s return to the Alien universe, Prometheus. Once Scott stepped out of the director’s chair for Blade Runner 2, replaced by director Denis Villeneuve (Sicario), the sequel gained more interest from fans. Not all fans, of course, but nobody should write off seeing the third collaboration between Villeneuve and cinematographer Roger Deakins, especially after Sicario.

Still, Scott remains heavily involved in the project, and once again, he’s teasing the sequel’s opening sequence.

new star wars footage

It’s been one helluva busy week for Star Wars: The Force Awakens news. With a little over a month to go before J.J. Abram‘s heavily anticipated, long-awaited sequel to the most popular movie franchise of all time arrives in theaters, the floodgates have begun to open. The mystery box is no more. This new extended TV spot contains more action and excitement and character beats than most of the previous full trailers. It’s madness. But, you know, the good kind of madness. star wars magazine covers

By this time next month, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will have graced the cover of just about every major entertainment publication on the planet. Any editor worth his or her salary would have arranged to have the most anticipated movie of 2015 appear in the pages of their magazine. It’s the Circle of Blockbuster Hype: The Force Awakens has the potential to be one of the biggest movies of all time, so everyone keeps on talking about it… and since everyone is talking about it, it has the potential to be one of the biggest movies of all time. Insert signing lions here – Disney does own Star Wars, after all.

Anyway, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled four new Star Wars: The Force Awakens covers, each of them showing off a separate character. Depending on your personal taste (or which one randomly decides to show up in your mailbox, if you’re a subscriber), you can pick up a copy featuring Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, and C-3PO and R2-D2 as themselves. Well, technically those last two are Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker. Check out the covers for yourself after the jump.

star wars character posters

Just when you thought it was safe to take a breath and think about something other than Star Wars: The Force Awakens for a few minutes, a big batch of character posters have arrived. These five posters, depicting Han Solo, Leia Organa, Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren, may not be as classical as Drew Struzan’s poster or as colorful and eye-popping as the main one-sheet, but they get their point across quite nicely: here are five characters, both new and old, from the new Star Wars movie. Get to know them well. You will be seeing them a lot.
