At this point, Chris Pine might be the only blond-haired, blue-eyed, thirtysomething actor named Chris who doesn’t have his own superhero franchise. But that might not be the case for much longer. Rumor has it Pine is up for the role of Hal Jordan a.k.a. Green Lantern in Warner Bros.’ DC universe. More on the Green Lantern Chris Pine rumor after the jump.

The DC movie universe should already be three years old. We all thought, Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy aside, that Martin Campbell‘s Green Lantern was going to kick things off. It was a no-brainer. Much like Iron Man before him, Green Lantern was a very successful and popular comic character who was fairly well-known to the general public. He also had an everyman origin story which opened up the world to crazy possibilities. Fans surely figured, by 2014, we’d see Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern on screen with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Flash.
Then the movie opened, and things did not turn out well at all. While some enjoyed the movie, most heralded it as an epic failure on every level. Most importantly, the executives at Warner Bros. pretty much dismissed the film and instead focused on Superman as a new universe kickstarter, leading us to where we are now.
So where does that leave Green Lantern, The DC Comics superhero movie that doesn’t quite fit anywhere? It leaves the movie as the perfect subject of a Screen Junkies Honest Trailer. Check it out below. Read More »

After last year’s epic Batman v Superman announcement, everyone expects Warner Bros. to give fans tons of big news at Comic-Con this year. We’d already heard pretty definitively that the next bit film, Justice League directed by Zack Snyder, would hit in 2017. Given the casting of characters such as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, WB and DC seem to be readying other major superheroes for spin offs. Now, a rumored schedule has been released that shows the potential Warner Bros. and DC schedule through 2018. Not on the list? Batman. What is on the list? Shazam, Wonder Woman and a Flash/Green Lantern team up. See the Warner Bros DC schedule below. Read More »

Will we see Green Lantern in a Justice League movie? That’s not an April Fools’ speculation, but rather one obvious idea to kick around based on two recent quotes. The president of WB recently said that we can expect a new DC film series announcement soon — that’s not just one film, but a series — while David Goyer, one of the architects of the recent Batman and Superman films, says he’s interested in Green Lantern.
Sure, Green Lantern fell from grace after first first major movie outing, but the good news is that there’s a whole Corps of Lanterns out there, and Goyer (or another writer) could bring one or more of them into a new film. Read his comment below. Read More »
