At the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, I saw a documentary titled Finders Keepers, a hilarious, bizarre and sometimes devastating true life story of two men fighting over a severed human leg. Yes, you read that right — a human leg. Aside from a documentary which I helped produce (yes, disqualified from this competition due to obvious conflict of interest), Finders Keepers is my favorite documentary film of 2015 (so far). The story follows Shannon Whisnant, who purchased a storage unit at auction and was surprised to find the severed human leg inside a used bbq grill. The other man, John Wood, wants his leg back, but Whisnant isn’t about to let that happen.
I’ve reviewed the movie, we’ve run a clip from the film in the past, and have even posted the Finders Keepers trailer, and now that the film is hitting theaters today (September 25th 2015) and an iTunes and Video On Demand debut scheduled for next week (October 2nd 2015), we have been given the opportunity to premiere an exclusive clip. The clip shows the first in person confrontation between the two men as Shannon confronts Wood at a local news press conference outside the Dollar General store. Hit the jump to watch the Finders Keepers clip now.

There’s been plenty of great feuds on fights on the big screen in the relatively brief history of cinema, but few are as simultaneously strange and entertaining as Finders Keepers, the Sundance selected documentary that was one of our favorite movies from the indie film festival earlier this year, and also an honorable mention on our list of the best films from 2015 so far.
The film follows the surprising feud between two North Carolina men over a severed human foot. Shannon Whisnant found the foot inside a grill at a storage unit auction, and that makes him believe it’s his, hoping to cash in on the item by letting people pay to see it. But then John Wood realizes that it’s his foot that Shannon has, and he wants it back. If you’re scratching your head, just watch the Finders Keepers trailer to see how this plays out. Read More »
The 2015 Sundance Film Festival ends Sunday but team /Film is already back in Los Angeles. We were on the ground in Park City for eight days, seeing and reviewing as many movies as possible. While there, our aim is to find the awesome films you’ll want to have on your radar later this year. We think we were successful.
Below, Peter Sciretta, Russ Fischer and I have each ranked every single film we saw. I saw 25, Peter and Russ saw 22. We assigned points to our top films to come up with an overall site ranking. We also came up with a bunch of fun stats to to give you an idea of how huge Sundance is, and how our tastes figure into coverage.
Below, read about the best of Sundance 2015, according to Slashfilm. Read More »
