Way back in July, Idris Elba was one of the first actors to get cast in Guy Ritchie‘s long-gestating Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur. Sadly, though, it seems he’s now had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
But the good news is they’ve already found someone to replace him. Djimon Hounsou is reportedly in talks for the role, described as a “Merlin-like figure.” Hit the jump for more on the Djimon Hounsou King Arthur casting.

We’ve already seen the scruffy outlaw heroes and the rigid law enforcement types of Guardians of the Galaxy. But no outer-space superhero adventure would be complete without some baddies, so today it’s time to meet the guys and gal who’ll be giving the Guardians hell.
Marvel has revealed three more Guardians of the Galaxy character posters focused on the villains — specifically, Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace), Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou), and Nebula (Karen Gillan). Flip through ’em after the jump.

After becoming a fan favorite on AMC’s horror hit The Walking Dead, it was only a matter of time before Norman Reedus hit the big screen in a big way. Turns out, it’ll happen with the help of the man who made him a star in the first place.
Reedus is joining Djimon Hounsou in a sci-fi thriller called Air, which will be produced by Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. Christian Cantamessa, who co-wrote Red Dead Redemption and GTA: San Andreas for Rockstar, will make his directorial debut from a script he co-wrote with Chris Pasetto.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy trailer is set to premiere later tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live, but we have the very first footage from the film this morning in the form of a 15-second teaser. In it, Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) asks the question that’s been on the minds of moviegoers the world over since the moment this film was announced: “Who are you?”
The Guardians never quite get around to answering the question, presumably because they’ll be doing so in the full trailer this evening, but we do get some big shiny explosions and glimpses of the star-studded cast — which includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and Dave Bautista — in action. Watch the video after the jump.

Vin Diesel has spent his downtime on the Fast & Furious 7 set getting ready to play Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, but it seems memorizing lines isn’t a big part of that prep. While the sentient tree is a key member of the intergalactic team, he’s not much of a talker. As a matter of fact, he only says one thing: “I am Groot.”
Still, Diesel insists that while his Groot isn’t much of a talker, he wants to make that single phrase count. Hit the jump to see Diesel talking about and preparing for his big Marvel role.

Jeff Bridges may be doing a variant on his True Grit voice for his role in Seventh Son, but if this fantasy action adventure film is made up of recycled parts, at least they look like they’ve been assembled in a lively fashion. The first trailer for the film introduces Bridges as a warrior/wizard/knight who is opposed to the big, bad forces of evil — especially the version incarnated in the person of a witch played by Julianne Moore.
He’s joined by a new apprentice, played by Ben Barnes, who has a useful personal history. He’s the seventh son of a seventh son, which fantasy lore and an Iron Maiden album will tell you is a powerful thing. And so they fight evil together. As you’d expect from a big fantasy film produced by Legendary, that evil is incarnated in impressively-rendered digital monsters. (By the late effects house Rhythm & Hues.)
Admittedly, it’s also fun to watch Bridges doing a pastiche of Rooster Cogburn and Nicol Williamson’s Merlin from Excalibur, so Seventh Son might be worth a look for him alone. Read More »
It seems like Orlando Bloom‘s comeback is going to start…any…minute…now. He took a couple years off, and then did a film that there was reason to anticipate (Mark Ruffalo’s Sympathy For Delicious) and a few other projects that were destined to be baby steps back to public awareness more than anything else. (Main Street, The Good Doctor, and The Three Musketeers.)
Bloom has a couple additional films on the horizon: The Laureate; Cities; and a little thing called The Hobbit, in which he’ll reprise his breakout role of Legolas. But that role isn’t likely to be a particularly big part, and so there’s room for something else. So he’s added one more project: a South African crime tale called Zulu, in which he’ll co-star with Djimon Hounsou. Read More »
