Zack Snyder DC Films

While Christopher Nolan kept DC Comics movies in the public eye with his Dark Knight trilogy starting in the mid-2000s, Nolan’s insistence that his movies exist in their own cinematic realm resulted in the higher-ups at Warner Bros. and DC looking for a new creative partner who could kickstart a cinematic universe to rival what was happening at Marvel Studios. They chose Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen), who directed Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and (most of) Justice League, but a new report claims that Snyder’s influence over the DCEU will be significantly smaller moving forward. And if that weren’t enough, Suicide Squad director David Ayer might be leaving the DCEU entirely.

Wonder Woman 2

The big push for Wonder Woman is just beginning, but Warner Bros is already developing a sequel to their first female-led superhero film. But Wonder Woman 2 won’t be the next female superhero movie to hit the screen as part of DC’s Extended Universe. Here’s everything we know.

Wonder Woman Tone

One of the most common criticisms of the DC expanded universe so far (from fans and critics alike) has been the consistently, overtly dark tone of the movies. Both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice just seem dour for the sake of being dour, and while Suicide Squad had a little more fun with the comic book world, many are hoping future movies will lighten up a bit. The tone of Justice League certainly indicates a change in tone, at least if the sizzle reel from Comic-Con is any indicator, but it sounds like Wonder Woman will be the one that really stands out.

Diane Nelson, President of DC Entertainment and President of Warner Bros. Consumer Products, producer Deborah Snyder and director Patty Jenkins recently opened up a bit about what to expect from Wonder Woman, specifically with regards to how it will be different from the previous DC movies, especially with regards to a lighter tone.

Justice League Concept Art

Thunder crashes in the distance as lightning flashes on a gothic-looking rooftop. The iconic Bat Signal shoots a beam of light into the sky as Commissioner Gordon looks out over Gotham City. On the other side of the rooftop, Batman appears, flanked by Wonder Woman and the Flash.

“How many of you are there?” asks Gordon.

Batman dryly responds, “Not enough.”

I’m on the set of Justice League watching a scene be filmed for Zack Snyder’s follow-up to the divisive Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The Flash Movie

One of the chief complaints about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been a convoluted, unnecessarily complex story. But from my perspective, one of the more enjoyable and promising elements of the film were the seeds planted for the movies that will feature the rest of the heroes who will form Justice League. Even though the little teases of heroes like Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg aren’t pulled off as smoothly as the movie-stealing appearance of Wonder Woman, they certainly piqued my curiosity.

Now a new interview with producer Deborah Snyder gives a hint as to what we can expect from a standalone The Flash movie, and it involves teaming up with Cyborg, who had one of the more confusing Justice League appearances in Batman v Superman. Find out what Deborah Snyder had to say about The Flash movie after the jump. Read More »

batman v superman - dc movie universe

One of the more interesting topics of conversation at the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice press conference revolved around the creation of the DC movie universe. Director Zack Snyder revealed that the idea of one cinematic universe was not influenced by Marvel (sure…) but instead was the result of the story he wanted to tell in his Man of Steel sequel. The universe came from that idea, and evolved into a much much bigger plan.
