Before his tragic death last month, Glee star Cory Monteith had wrapped two indies to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. The trailer for one of these, Josh C. Waller‘s McCanick, has just hit the web.
In it, Monteith plays Simon Weeks, who’s fresh off a stint in prison and in possession of a very dangerous secret. David Morse stars as the short-tempered cop who years ago helped put him away, and now is desperate to make sure Simon doesn’t tell what he knows. Watch the video after the jump.

At this point, we’ve had so many stories and suspicions about World War Z, the Marc Forster-directed adaptation of Max Brooks‘ novel about the aftermath of a zombie pandemic. Extensive reshoots have led many to assume that the film is a mess, and the first footage released a couple days ago didn’t do any favors, especially for those who want as many details of Brooks’ novel preserved as possible, and didn’t take kindly to the film’s fast zombies.
But now the first full trailer is here, and we can start to evaluate what Forster & Co. have actually made. Happily, the film looks a bit better than that initial footage glimpse suggested, even if it probably isn’t the movie that die-hard fans wanted. Check out the trailer below. Read More »

Jena Malone has landed the part of Southern Gothic writer Carson McCullers in Lonely Hunter, a biopic written and directed by Deborah Kampmeier (Hounddog). The film will encompass some 35 years of McCullers’ 50-year life, including her struggles with alcoholism, various illnesses, and a tumultuous marriage. McCullers is probably best known for her debut novel The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, but she also published poems, plays, and short stories throughout her lifetime and was part of the same literary circle as Tennessee Williams and Truman Capote.
Malone appeared in Sucker Punch earlier this year, and will star in next year’s lesbian werewolf romance Jack and Diane. Lonely Hunter is scheduled to begin shooting in spring 2012. [The Hollywood Reporter]
After the jump, World War Z gets a late addition and Vinessa Shaw struggles with the downside of smelling really, really good.

Did someone declare today Drive Angry 3D day and we didn’t get the memo? I only ask because not only has the brand new theatrical trailer just come online, but the poster as well. From My Bloody Valentine 3D director Patrick Lussier (no relation) and starring Nicolas Cage, Amber Heard, William Fichtner, David Morse, Billy Burke and Tom Atkins, Drive Angry 3D is about a man who breaks out of hell to get violent, R-rated revenge on the cult who killed his daughter and stole her baby. Footage from the film premiered at Comic Con and was one of the biggest hits of the convention. It’s scheduled for release February 11, 2011. Click below for the full poster and trailer. Read More »
You’d think an epic WWII espionage thriller set in Shanghai, starring John Cusack and directed by Mikael “1408” Håfström would be an easy sell. But maybe not, if it’s really just a trip to dullsville. Shanghai was pushed around on the Weinstein Company schedule for a while last year before being pushed off indefinitely. We’ve seen stills for the film, but now there’s an international trailer. If this clips is anything to judge the film by, no wonder TWC didn’t want to spend money to advertise and release it. Cool Posts From Around the Web:
We’ve been really excited about Disturbia since it was first announced. The film is basically a contemporary teen version of Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window. The trailer worried us a bit, as it wasn’t exactly what we were expecting. And now this poster… What were they thinking?
The poster, shown to the left, has the tag-line “Every Killer Lives Next Door to Someone.” As always, left click for higher resolution.
Directed by D.J. Caruso, the film stars Shia LaBeouf, David Morse, and Carrie-Anne Moss. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 13th 2007.
